I wanted to really like this place. I ordered the Otoro, Chu toro and Wagyu amongst other things so the bill being over $100 for just myself is not really that much of a surprise. The flavors of everything were good as expected.
Having said that, out of the 12 pieces of Sushi I ordered, 4 of them fell apart and I had to fish in the soy bowl to get the rice out, 2 almost fell apart and one literally fell apart midair, got on my shirt and my pants before crashing to the floor.
We have all encountered sushi with overly pressed rice that is dry and awful, but I am really not sure which one is worse. Every place can have a bad day but today seemed as if there was a 5 year old pressing the rice together...I in no way soaked anything to pick up the soy sauce, it was just falling apart and very poorly assembled.
This is literally the most novice thing about making nigiri which is why I would give this place 2 stars. Sadly after spending $300 here in the past two days (I met with 2 friends yesterday to try a quick bite as we were walking) my bill is not done yet as the dry cleaning will cost more.
Having great ingredients poorly put together is like having a new Ferrari bumper hammered onto a...
Read moreEverything about Sushi Enya is meticulous, delicious, and hospitable. Every dish and piece of fish is perfectly crafted to bring out the best elements of the ingredients they're working with. The Toro was very clean and full of umami. The striped mackerel was sweet with amazing tangy notes underneath the deliciously oily mackerel. The halibut was also very clean and slightly sweet paired perfectly with lime. My two favorites have to be the kanpachi (amberjack) and smoked kanpachi. Two very different flavor profiles but both hands down divine. Especially the smoked, if you enjoy smoked fish, with the bonito flakes, it's layers of amazing. My upmost appreciation and thanks to the sushi chefs for their amazing work. Also the gentleman helping me navigate the menu was amazing for suggestions, I wish I caught his name but I didn't unfortunately. All the other people were very welcoming and just overall gave a great vibe. Will definitely return as Sushi Enya knows how to serve amazing food while also maintaining a very high level of customer service. Thank you all for an...
Read moreSushi Enya in Pasadena is the kind of place that reminds you what real sushi should taste like — clean, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Every piece felt crafted with intention and precision, from the texture of the rice to the perfect temperature of the fish.
I went in expecting a solid sushi experience, but Enya completely exceeded that. The fish quality was top-tier — buttery, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth fresh. The rolls were artfully presented and balanced in flavor rather than overloaded with sauces. You can tell the chefs truly respect the craft.
The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed — dim lighting, minimalist decor, and a calm energy that lets the food speak for itself. The staff were professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they serve, which added to the overall experience.
In short: Sushi Enya is easily one of Pasadena’s standout sushi spots. It’s not just about eating sushi here — it’s about appreciating it. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi lover or just getting into it, this place will raise...
