I was born and raised in Italy. I ate Neapolitan pizza in Naples. Settebello Pizzeria is the CLOSEST to NEAPOLITAN pizza I have found in Los Angeles, at least on the East side. It is also the closest to Italian pizza in general. Simple and fresh ingredients, a thin crust, and a unique Neapolitan oven, are the secret to the perfect pizza every time. I have been here twice with my family for late lunch/early dinner, and we definitely plan on coming back. Our favorite pizzas so far are the BIANCA, the CAPRICCIOSA, and the CARBONARA. My husband ordered the pizza with meatballs, but the first time I found the tomato sauce a little runny (my husband didn't mind, though, as he ordered it again the second time, and it was actually cooked to perfection). A friend of my daughter had the MARGHERITA, and she loved it, too! Such a great classic!I bet all the pizzas here are worth trying and just simply DELICIOUS! While pizzas are the protagonists at Settebello Pizzeria, do yourself a favor, and order the BEET SALAD, which is so mouthwatering, we tried to replicate it at home! And don't skip the desserts, which are also so yummy! We had the bombolini, an Italian version of big doughnut holes but so much lighter, and the spumone cake with pistachio ice-cream. Both so good! I find the restaurant very INVITING, with an industrial decor offset by old and charming pictures from Naples. Also, the ambiance is not pretentious at all, which is a lot to say these days. The service was professional and attentive. Parking was a breeze on a Sunday, when we found a very close parking spot, but not so much on a Saturday, when we had to drive to a parking lot across from the restaurant. Still very worth it. The only downside? It is not cheap, but neither is the quality of the food you will eat. This restaurant is such a hidden gem! I am happy I found it on GOOGLE, and can't wait to come back next time we are in Pasadena! Thank you Pasadena for offering such delicious and diverse culinary...
Read moreWhile I had high hopes for my experience at Settebello pizza place in Pasadena, I must admit that it fell short of expectations in several key areas.
Firstly, the timing of my pickup order was a significant disappointment. Despite being quoted a reasonable 20-minute wait time, I found myself waiting a staggering 50 minutes for my pizzas to be ready. This considerable delay was inconvenient and certainly not what I had anticipated.
Furthermore, upon receiving my order, I couldn't help but notice the rather diminutive size of the pizzas, especially considering their hefty price tag. For over $20 each, I expected something more substantial, yet they resembled more of a personal size portion. This lack of value left me feeling somewhat dissatisfied with my overall dining experience.
Another aspect that left much to be desired was the lack of attention to detail in the toppings, particularly on the margherita pizza. Instead of the vibrant basil leaves one would expect, I was disappointed to find only three minuscule slivers of basil adorning the entire pizza. This meager amount hardly constituted a garnish, let alone a flavorful component of the dish.
Lastly, the quality of the pizzas themselves left something to be desired. Not only were they lacking in size and topping quantity, but the crusts also suffered from a soggy bottom and an overall undercooked taste. It seemed as though they had barely spent any time in the oven, resulting in a lack of the crispness and flavor one would expect from a well-prepared pizza.
In summary, while Settebello pizza place in Pasadena shows promise, there are significant areas in need of improvement. From the excessive wait times and inflated prices to the lackluster toppings and subpar pizza quality, my experience left much to be desired. I hope that the management takes these criticisms constructively and works towards enhancing the overall dining experience for their customers...
Read moreWe had a disappointing experience at Settebello tonight. We have enjoyed the food there in the past, but tonight, we were treated poorly. My two young kids and I put our name in for a table. We were told that the wait would be about 30 minutes. We asked if we could order a pizza for takeout and if the pizza came sooner than our table, perhaps we would just take the pizza out. My kids were hungry. The hosts happily agreed. After about 25 minutes, we saw that we were next on the waitlist. We got excited and mentioned this to the host, then a couple minutes later, one of the hosts told us that since we had ordered takeout, we were no longer able to be seated. I told the host that no one had explained this to us when we ordered the takeout. There was no give or take, the hosts said this was their policy. Meanwhile, my kids asked if they could order a dessert. The host said that the pizza was coming soon and that dessert would be quick, about five minutes. So we ordered bombolinis for takeout. The pizza came out, but we were not allowed to eat right away per Settebello policy it since it was takeout. The bombolinis did not come for about 15 minutes. Immediately after they arrived, we took everything home. My kids were hungry! Only after we finished the pizza and ate the bombolinis did we realize that they were just fried dough and the powdered sugar and Nutella were missing! We had paid over $10 for a few balls of plain fried dough. This was terrible service and a rip-off. I will give a shout-out to the awesome bartenders. While we were waiting, I got a glass of wine and two kids lemonades, and the bartenders were very kind, quick,...
