Came in with my dad and grandma and had a pretty bad experience. Starting off it was alright. Then we got our drinks- chica morada, which lacked a bit of flavor. Our appetizers were alright but the anticuchos we ordered were a bit too overcooked. Then the problem came with our entrees. I ordered the bistec a lo pobre and asked for it to be cooked medium and I got a very well done meat. I also asked for a knife as we were missing one and I waited more than 5mins for it. We asked our waiter for the knife and he acknowledged us but then kept walking back and forth doing other things and even repeatedly left the restaurant altogether. We had to ask another waiter for the knife and he gave us it right then and there. The place was also not busy at all, there were 3 other tables there and only one was actually ordering food, and it was just a party of 1. The 2 waiters there spent more time going out of the restaurant to talk to some friends/coworkers or just staying in the back to talk to the kitchen staff. Seeing how long it took for me to get a knife, I didn’t want to have to wait for another bistec so I just dealt with how overcooked it was. It took forever to get through the dish because of how difficult it was to cut the meat and the flavor was lacking as well. Both my grandma and dad also did not like their dishes and were left unsatisfied.
The worst part of it all- a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill. We always tips generously even if we had a bad experience like this but to automatically add a 20% tip is INSANE. For a table of just 3 people! I’d understand if it was more than 6 people.
There are much better Peruvian places just a few blocks down where your server won’t just forget about you and where the food will actually be good. I don’t recommend...
Read moreWhat is the worst thing a restaurant can do? They can serve you average to below average food? They can give terrible late service of cold bad tasting food? No the worst thing is to over charge you an extra $50.00 for mediocre food and service. Yes, 1 ceviche mixto $20, 2 beers $10, Two Pisco Sours $70. How in the world can you charge $70 for 2 pisco sours? How is it possible that a small meal run you $100. These prices according to the local inhabitants are outrages as we walked out of Griselda's and asked around why this was so expensive. People would say they new about her exorbitant prices. One person even exclaiming, "What is Griselda think she is serving you, Gold!" Do yourself a favor there are at least 40 other places in that area of Paterson where you can find excellent Peruvian food, good Peruvian beer, and Pisco Sours that will not break the bank and make an otherwise excellent experience on Peruvian Square , Paterson a...
Read moreWent with my Girlfriend for dinner. What we ordered was looking beautiful on the pictures of the menu. When it was delivered to our table, my Girlfriend and I looked at each other and just tried it. It was ok. When we got the bill, that's when we really looked at each other and were baffled and disgusted. Almost $90 for a seafood platter and two can sodas. And at the bottom of the receipt was a 20% GRATUITY CHARGE. PLUS A 15% OF THE BILL AS A TIP FOR THE WAITRESS. NEVER AGAIN WILL YOU CATCH ME IN ONE OF THESE HOOD RESTAURANTS. And to add insult to injury, the food tasted reheated in a microwave. Like it had a refrigerator left over food taste. And believe me, I know what left overs taste like. No, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I rather go to a...
