My wife and I visited the Taskin Bakery yesterday, on the first day of the New Year, 1/1/2025. When I paid cash for the two Barbaris bread, my wife noticed that we have been overcharged. The posted price for each Barbari was $4.25, so the total price should have been $8.50 however we were charged $10.30. Once I brought the error to the attention of the gentleman behind the counter, he quickly said, “I read the wrong price,” and then, he came out and showed me a different price which was posted for $4.50. I said thank you, but we were charged $10.30, he said “$4.50 is the cash price,” I said we paid cash. Then he went behind the register and punch a few keys bitterly and then after a few minutes scratching his head he said, well the posted prices are wrong it should have been $5.15 each not the posted prices of $4.25 or $4.50. More importantly, he was rude through the entire time with no apologies. My wife and I were shocked that someone could so rude to a customer and then change their words three times within a few minutes, once saying that I read the wrong price then saying that $4.50 was the cash price, and then finally saying that the posted prices are wrong. No apologies whatsoever! The Taskin Bakery needs to know that just being rude with their customers and not honoring their own posted prices cannot be the norm to do the...
Read moreI stopped on my way upstate last week and bought some bread, borek and gozleme for breakfast. My kids got some bottled juice and soda. I asked them how much is turkish tea, and was told $3.50! That's insane! This is not some posh cafe. It's a simple tea. Heck they're serving unlimited cups of tea around the block at Yorem Pide with a purchase. They should include the tea with a breakfast purchase, never mind for ppl like who spent $100 there. I found it that they were being opportunistic and would have felt like a sucker(aka enayi) if I paid that much for a tea. I think this shows the greed of the owner of this shop and ppl like this should be supported by the community. Will never shop here again, will take my business elsewhere.
When it comes to the food, gozleme was good, not too dry nor too oilly. Everything else, different types of boreks were soaked in some cheap oil where the nasty taste of oil ruins the borek. My kids didn't like the cookies and their quality failed miserably when compared to the cookies purchased at other pastries. The breads are pretty good. My recommendation is just go there for the bread, do not go there for the breakfast or the pastries. The quality of the craftsmanship, effort, and supplies used are not worth the...

Okay so I’m here agin a few time and coming from New York Because we shop in NJ. I came and seen different workers and they have something in common. Impatient, have attitude and rude. This is coming from a New Yorker. It was young men helping me. I’ve see an older man that was welcoming and showing workers what to do. He probably is owner or manger. But he was there once in all the years I’m coming here. I hope he can end employing arrogant ppl. Last time I went worker gave me old baklava. How do I know it’s old… wrinkled and stale. There’s so much fresh baklava, maybe he’s saying it for ppl he likes, I didn’t pay attention till I seen the tray he took out from on my way out.
I have plenty of Turkish bakeries in NY and they are very pleasant and welcoming. The taste is absolutely delicious. Always hot out of oven. Especially when I buy trays.
In many cultures, when ppl eat your food, it’s suppose to be a good Experian just like they invited you to their home. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I’m sad to write this but the owner is probably not aware. Also the prices are crazy expensive. Baklve is usually 11$ a pound and cheese and spinach...
