Read moreFinally got to try the Yemeni restaurant in NJ. Decor is simple but nice and clean and welcoming. The menu has so many Yemeni dishes and you can find everything from chicken to meat to fish. As always in Yemeni restaurants, the tea is self serve and on the house and this tea was excellent but they didn’t have any milk. We had the salmon and king fish which is fried. Excellent quality fish. The bread is amazing. Had it with the hummus topped with chicken as an appetizer and I think that made it taste so good. We also ordered the rashoosh bread and both breads are excellent. The rice is so fluffy and aromatic but they didn’t have any more onions that’s layered on top nor maraq soup which is supposed to be served with the meal. Was hoping to see how that tasted but hopefully they’ll have it next time. They serve a house salad with some kind of dressing on it. The mint lemonade doesn’t have much of a mint flavor to it but it was very good and sweetened just right. Very nice staff and would def visit again to try the chicken shawaiya or fahsa shrimp. It looks good and I feel the food is made to a high standard of...
Read moreI went to this restaurant reading all the good reviews with a high hope. The table we sat in was moving so they transferred us to another table next to the bathroom and it was not a good place as the smell from bathroom was coming out. We ordered Chicken Kabsa, Lamb Haneeth, Hummus and yogurt with cucumber. The kabsa was not in their menu but when I asked them they said they could make it. It was extremely oily and tasted kind of like biryani. The amount was also very little and the chicken had a bad smell. The lamb haneeth was ok, nothing special. Haneeth meat supposed to be more tender. The cucumbers were cut into big pieces and just added with a yogurt that tasted so bad. I regretted ordering it. Compared to the price it was not worth it at all. The hummus was too thick. The food was not warm enough. The only thing I liked was the soup and tea. We spent $80+ and very disappointed with the food and service.
Asked for a bottle of water to the person who took our order but he forgot to bring it and we had to ask another person for water. I’m sorry but I do not recommend...
