this is my first ever 2 star rating review, it's actually hard to get me to review such a low score, just look at my review history, the only reason for the 2 stars was the kind waitress and the calm ambience with a clean dining room, but for food review this is my #1 worst food quality experience anywhere even compared with fast food, very disappointing experience, for a party of 8, all of our food was less than warm, almost cold (but the plates were hot), waitress offered to have them put the burritos in the oven, but the problem was the wet and rubbery room temp carne asada inside the burrito with the unmelted cold shredded cheese, almost like the carne asada was frozen fajita steak from a grocery store that had been microwaved just long enough to melt the frost and leave it soggy - the kids meal chicken tenders looked like cheap chicken patties you'd buy in a grocery stores frozen food section, but tasted like fish sticks, after I complained about it twice the waitress finally told me that they ran out of their chicken tenders the night before and had to buy these from the store (it was obvious they grabbed the wrong bag of fish patties) they should've told me when I ordered it and I would've ordered my son something else, but they did replace it with a disappointing hamburger - the waitress was nice, oh and the fries were hot that came with the replaced kids hamburger, they really didn't want to give us cold food again, we were polite the whole time and left a $20 tip for a $100 order since it wasn't the waitresses fault that the manager and the kitchen don't care about their jobs, she had to put up with all our disappointed faces holding fake smiles as we kept calling her over asking about the multiple food quality issues, lol, customer beware, I wouldn't recommend and the food was so bad I wouldn't go again even to see if it was a one day off thing,...
Read moreI ordered the Chicken Magnifico, that was both filling and excellent. Served in three portions on a platter, with jalapeño cream cheese packing extra punch (spicy, and I got it on the side), with colossal servings of rice and beans. The option of black or refried beans is available. My dining companions consider this the most authentic Mexican option in Payson, with numerous seafood options, and fantastic salsa. Other preferred orders included Enchiladas Suizes, that is a favorite. Shrimp Fajitas were delicious with an ample supply of shrimp to fully satisfy a man's hunger. Monterey Burrito combines steak, shrimp and queso sauce, yielding a diversity of flavor and nutrition. Fajita Enchiladas are recommended, and it is noted to ask for white sauce on this order. Shredded beef chimichangas were delicious and included sliced avocado. The rice features the unique addition of lima beans. Black beans are also tasty. Traditional Hispanic music plays in the background, not too loud, facilitating ease of conversation. This is a family friendly place, suitable for children (see chicken strips). Rodeo plays on the TV, or other sports (in the background). The owner personally took the time to greet us at the...
Read moreFood - very authentic and everyone enjoyed their plates. Complimentary tortilla chips & salsa. (Enchiladas, Chimichanga, and the special Pork with Green Chilies) Every plate came with rice, beans (we had the refried and they were exceptional), and lettuce/tomatoes/sour cream/guacamole toppings. The food was not super spicy, which was okay with us. Water & drinks came in gigantic glasses that were so huge you might not have to get a refill. Service - excellent, fast and food was served with a smile Ambiance - Mexican/Western/Cowboy theme throughout. There is a huge sculpture of a horse made of horseshoes outside the front door. Then you walk in and feel like you are in Mexico. The bar has t.v.'s above it with a rodeo sports channel playing in the middle screen - this fits the theme of the place. All the tables & chairs have very cool rodeo themed paintings of horses, cowboys and cowgirls. We will be back if we come back to Arizona! Wish we had this restaurant in Alberta, Canada. My parents are Snowbirds, so they will be bringing their guests there a lot. They have been telling everyone about it. My mom said it was her favourite Mexican place...
