I visited this Brazilian bakery in Peabody with high expectations but left with mixed feelings.
The bread (pĂŁo francĂȘs) was quite good â fresh, with the right texture and flavor. The yucca cake, on the other hand, was disappointing. It tasted like lower-quality ingredients were used, leaving it just âokayâ rather than memorable. The fried dough/donut-like pastry was fresh and decent, though a bit bland.
The coffee was by far the biggest letdown. Instead of the bold, distinct flavors one might expect from a Brazilian cafĂ©, it felt like a generic blend â more in line with a Dunkinâ coffee than something authentically Brazilian.
Atmosphere-wise, the experience wasnât great. The music was too loud, and the layout/distribution of the space made it feel cramped and uncomfortable. In some ways, the environment does echo what you might find in small-town or improvised cafĂ©s in Brazil, but here it came across more as chaotic than charming.
On the positive side, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which helps balance out the experience.
Overall, while there were some highlights, the bakery falls short in key areas like quality, coffee, and ambiance. With some attention to ingredients and atmosphere, it could...
Read moreI like to stop in to get some of the pastry snacks. The Coxinha is really good. They also have a baked pastry with chicken and cream cheese, I don't think it's the same thing, but that's my favorite here. Oh, and the cheese rolls. Little balls of bread with a tangy hard cheese, softened after being baked. Absolutely wonderful! Grabbing a breakfast sandwich was what I needed, bacon egg and cheese on a French roll. Simple, basic, and with their fresh-made French rolls, very good.
I like stopping in here. It's a Brazilian bakery so the Portuguese tongue is alive and well with not just the people who work here, but customers as well. There's Brazilian products here, and newspapers in Portuguese. The staff are bilingual and very pleasant people. I like coming here. I usually order food to go, but today I stopped and sat down to eat. No coffee today though, had to go home after working the...
Read moreUpdated review: i lowered from 3 starts to 2 and that's sad. the fact that this place has no competition is actually HURTING them because they just don't have the drive to do better. i have not seen a single improvement. their Pao de queijo is dry and hard, the salgadinhos in their warming display are always dry and you can tell they're been in there for many hours.
They get half of the ?rating for inconsistency. Sometimes it's good but I have personally pointed out mold in the pastries in the display case. I buy here because there's...
