Food at late evening times have been much of an waste. Low in quality, quantity, taste and unappealing. Got baked chicken, greens, potatoes, Mac & cheese, meatloaf, yams, Mac & cheese and greens, 2 pc cornbread. The Mac and yams weren't too bad but everything else needed to be pulled, trashed or given away for free. Food is always salty. Cornbread is always undesirable and taste like crumb cake. No taste of cornmeal but flour and sugar is the star, and it falls apart in your hand. Some servers don't know how to plate food. They fill your plate with juices of gravy and broth and don't let liquids drain off before adding to plate. I had to literally ask the young guy to drain off juice from greens and please no gravy all over the food. As you can see the food is always swimming in gravy. The manager lady appears to always be in an unpleasant mood, don't want to be bothered when asked a question... like do you have more chicken etc. When you only have 5 pieces of chicken floating in gravy and looking bad I think that you should pull it and tell the folks that your sold out. As they were sold out of pretty much everything. That's fine but how about instead of folks asking if you have more and the poor servers run to the back to check... just post a sign that you are out. Or the mean face lady tell you "what you see is all we have". Seems that the restaurant has success in food sales but lacks quantity and quality control. Also some recipes have too much salt or the cooks have heavy hands with use of salt. Salt always enhances food but too much and you don't taste the true flavor of the food, and besides our community doesn't need it. It's okay to cook our soul foods with less salt and still have good taste. The restaurant is clean and nicely set up. I haven't seen too many people dining in but carry out seems to be the choice. The prices are high I guess due to location and overhead. Be sure to look for price per 2 or 3 sides. We thought rice came with meat that has gravy but that's considered a side. So we paid around $55 + for two plates with 3 side. I was there for new years day and stood in the long line for food. At that time everything was fresh and plentiful but still too salty. It was packed and they had a DJ that had the place rocking so the wait wasn't that bad. I all I hope we'll all continue to support this establishment... and also hope they'll repay the favor by accommodating us...
Read moreI generally go to the one on Belfort but living close to Pearland I sometimes stop at this location. Every time I go to any location the food is great but the service is mid to terrible. It's as if staff fake the service when top management is around but when Noone from ownership or upper management isn't nearby, some of the staff can be very nonchalant or rude. I was at Pearland location just a few days ago and received a somewhat nonchalant unpleasant experience with a manager or acting manager. The young lady seem to be more engaged in her phone than taking time to provide service. I paid $20.00 for only a plate of spaghetti that I had to wait for. I also got a slice of cake but the point of the matter is 1 or 2 sides that she told me I was going to be charged extra for because I wanted it Ina different container being the side dish I wanted is very runny and didn't want corn juice in my spaghetti. It wasn't what was done it was how it was said and done. When I proceeded to check out the cashier made me feel rushed. The condescending attitude of her texting on her phone and not saying thank you and have a nice day even after I said it to her exemplify the careless attitude about customer service. Its sad that a large number of our black establishments have workers that doesn't seem to grasp the concept of good customer service. To top it off when I asked another associate for the manager! I was told that the cashier was the manager. I called the other location and spoke to a young lady named Hannah if im not mistake. She took my number and told me she would call back due to the restaurant being busy. I understood and gave her my number to call back. I will give the benefit of the doubt she forgot. I'm a very reasonable person but as an entrepreneur and corperate manager, customer service is my pet peeve. I will be back for some more good food but Mikkies in Pearland please do better with customer service. The day I was in there there was only about 4 customers inside and maybe 2 cars in your drive through. It's no excuse to have a manager acting nonchalant as if customer service...
Read moreIf I could give a 1 star rating I would. Please do not purchase catering from this place. My sister had booked them to cater my baby shower on Saturday 11/30. My event started at 3pm and they originally told her the food would be ready to be picked up around 3. My sister tried calling them days before to see if we could come earlier to pick it up. They never answered their phone. The day of my event arrives and my sister goes to get the food around 2ish. The food wasn’t fully prepared yet. They kept telling my sister 30 more minutes. 3pm rolls around and the food still wasn’t ready. They then told my sister around 3:30 that they would deliver it instead because it would take another 30 minutes. It was around 4:50 when my stepdad decided to go back up to Mikki’s to retrieve the food because we still hadn’t received it. We didn’t get our food until around 5:15/5:30pm with my event supposed to end at 6pm. I am highly disappointed and Mikki’s ruined my event. My guests went hungry for hours and Mikki’s staff was highly unprofessional and on top of that the food was lukewarm when we finally received it. My sister paid over $1200 and they did not even offer her half her money back at the time of service (even though I believe we deserve a full refund). They never answered their phone and blamed it on a “full mailbox.” I believe they offered to have the food delivered to give themselves more time thinking that we wouldn’t notice. Mikki’s was about 10 minutes away from my venue, there was no reason they should’ve taken over an hour to have my catering order prepared. I have never had to deal with service this bad and I am 9 months pregnant I shouldn’t have had to stress over some food. So, again if you’re looking for someone to cater your event, do NOT choose this place, you will be highly...
