I was excited to try this place. I'm from Detroit myself and have been following on Facebook for a while now. I drove 30 minutes today to check them out. My opinion is the prices are a bit high for the quality I received.
There were three of us. I ordered the salmon sliders with onion rings, lemon pepper wings and parmesan fries, and the young gripper combo with onion rings and a chicken pita.
First off walking in, the music is really loud.. And the commercials were overkill. The entire floors were sticky & all the tables that were empty were dirty from other guests previously sitting there. We picked one in the corner that had not been sat at.
The young girl at the register was nice and informative but had a hard time getting our order in the system. Had to repeat myself several times to make sure it was taken correctly. Again the music was very loud.
The food came to the table and the wing basket was poorly set up and a wing fell on to the table as the waiter sat it down. The flavor was there for the wings but they were fried hard and the fries were barely warm. The chicken pita was decent, the pita was not too fresh as it had too much pull when I bit down on it. The salmon sliders were piping hot, but they plated them on the onion rings which made them soggy as it's oozing with salmon pieces and they were not as fresh as the sliders, barely warm. The chicken sandwich was decent but looked nothing like the pictures I've seen.
A woman manager was asking guests how they were and we didn't get that interaction. The young girl who took our order did go around cleaning the tables while we were there. Overall, I came,I had and I was disappointed. For $75 I will not return... However they look like business is booming as they were non stop busy and I'm sure their business...
Read moreONLY GIVEN ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO, TO GIVE A REVIEW. Upon walking in I was the only customer and I noticed how sticky the floor was. I should have turned around then, but I tried to stay positive. One of the cooks didn't look too happy to be there and the other looked as if he just showed up for a check... I figured the reviews and pictures look good, so maybe it's a hidden gem. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I ordered two 12-piece wing baskets for $23 a piece and $50 together. Keep in mind $50 was just for food, as no drinks came with the basket. The food was underwhelming, and I honestly feel played to spend half $100 in today's economy for less than mediocre product(s). I asked for the chicken to be fried hard, but it was soggy and the skin was rubbery. Don't let the brown skin chicken in the picture manipulate you into thinking the wings are fried to perfection as they did me. The wings are like Tyson's pre-cooked chicken it has some kind of brown coloring on them, otherwise, they're air-fried. Regardless, I didn't ask for air-fried or rubber wings... The sauce (hot lemon pepper) and (sassy) were disgusting. I don't know how you can mess up a sauce but they did. The LP was salty and the sassy was bland, the chicken itself was cooked fast and smelled as such. The fries were soggy and pitiful very greasy and hard to digest. I wanted to support but this is HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! Baby, do yourself a favor and go somewhere with people who value their customers and want to provide you with good food and service. Grandma is not mad, grandma is just upset... My recommendation for this restaurant would be to CLOSE DOWN and try again after taking some restaurant management and culinary classes. Whatever it is, my suggestion is that you all go back to the...
Read moreI did a Google search to find a new restaurant in Pearland and The Gripper Kitchen came up. Based on the menu items and favorable reviews, we decided to go ahead and try them out. I must say it was an excellent decision to go there because the food was on point. I liked the menu because it was not massive and it had something for everyone in my household. I don't eat pork or beef, so the chicken options were right on time. The seafood and beef options were right on time for my family members, as well as the chicken options.
Additionally, there is a kid's menu, taco menu, house salad option, and desert menu. Ofcourse, they have beverages and the first thing I noticed was Kool-Aid. I don't know if they have different flavors, but I'll probably get some the next time. What is everyone's favorite flavor? If you're a true Kool-Aid drinker you should be saying something like Red. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I would advise you to find out.
Moving on, we ordered the following: The Chef Tony, 2 orders of Philly Sliders, the Fried Catfish & Shrimp Platter, and Peach Cobbler Tacos (Yes, I said Peach Cobbler "Tacos"). Everything was delicious. I had the Chef Tony and I highly advise to have some napkins on standby because that sandwich has a lot going on and alot of finger licking. My family said the Philly Sliders were amazing. I tried the Peach Cobbler Tacos and Oh My, they were right on point, not too sweet and just the right amount of sweetness.
The sandwiches come alone so you have to add a side if you want one. You also have the option of making it a combo with a side and a drink.
I've said enough. Please try them for yourself. It will be well worth it. We may be right back...
