Just ate there for the first and last time. We ordered our food at 6:00, we didn't get our order until 7:05 and it was all wrong. The waiter said they were busy but the place was 85% cleared out by 6:20. All we ordered was 2 street taco combos (3 tacos each) with beans and rice each, and 1 tostada. Our son ordered chicken strips and fries. Shouldn't have been too difficult. First off my wife and son's Sprites tasted bitter like not enough soda syrup from the fountain. Second we waited 55 minutes for our food before I mentioned our order to another waiter, who then brought out the wrong tacos TWICE with no sides of beans and rice...3rd time they got it right but cold at 7:05. Ten minutes later... they decided to bring my wife's order out and it's missing 1 taco, the rice and beans as well. Still no kids chicken strip meal yet, so I asked about my son's food, the waiter says "oh yeah". Then they bring 2 plates of cold refried beans and rice out. We figure we would just deal with it since we were hungry. Another 10 minutes later and out comes a plate of burnt chicken strips and burnt RICE for my son. He ordered fries not rice! They did bring out fresh french fries for him. Needless to say my son only ate his french fries. I never did get the tostada I ordered. Even after all the complications the manager never did come to talk to us.
Their food is basic commercialized standard Mexican restaurant food that you can get anywhere. Not really authentic Mexican flavors so don't expect anything spectacular. The place has bare walls with no decorations and the staff is disorganized. In my opinion it was like they opened up in a hurry before they were ready and organized. Hoping they can afford decorations soon since it's quite pricey as well. It felt more like a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. Sad because we were looking forward to having a good Mexican restaurant in Pekin but I guess it's not...
Read moreThis place was fantastic! I don't care for Mexican usually but this was new to town so my wife and I wanted to try it. This was around lunch so it was pretty busy. Service was great! Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was very kind, mad sure a couple times that everything was okay and came around for refills when needed (you don't need a refill of your glass is still half full) which was only like once and once was all we ever needed. We don't care for salsa so we first asked for cheese dip. To the person that complained the large was $9, it says the large is that much on the menu. My wife got a quesadilla which for a simpler Mexican dish she said was delish and was pretty big. I tried a little bit of the chicken from it and I definitely agree. I ordered two steak and onion burritos which came with rice and beans but I ask to substitute the beans for something else and they kindly let me do fries. The only minor hiccup was I did not get my fries at first, but our waitress when we asked, made sure to get it asap and it came out shortly after and she even brought ketchup for them without me even having to ask. I don't care for rice, but it was actually pretty good with a little hot sauce. I am still iffy about onions in things as I'm a little picky, especially if they are a bit crunchy and underdone. But the taste overall was so delicious that it distracted from the onions being a bit crunchy and I found myself eating them by themselves. And the fries were curly, sweet! Again, I am not a big Mexican food fan so if I say it is good, it speaks volumes....
Read moreThis is our first time at La Fiesta located in Pekin, Illinois and we really enjoyed our experience! My goal was to come in here and give a five-star review (despite the negative reviews that are posted) I'm very pleased to be able to come in here and do that today. The steak fajitas were fantastic, the meat was seasoned to perfection and the shredded beef that was in my husband's chimichangas was the best out of all the Mexican restaurants in the surrounding cities. We also enjoyed the salsa and the cheese dip, it's got a little bit more of a hint of Jalapeno in it, so it had a nice kick. Our waiter, Juan, did a wonderful job and was very friendly. We introduced ourselves and he told us that he had moved there from Tennessee to work at that restaurant. We were surprised and told him that we wanted to move to Tennessee. He said he was very happy working at La Fiesta and is happy that he made the move. His customer service was really great and we were happy that we got a nice...
