First time I had visited this restaurant in Pekin. They seem to be a local favorite and have made it through this covid virus issue. Good to see small businesses like this survive. It's a down to earth restaurant and if you are looking for fancy and you turn your nose up at common you wouldn't be happy, but I was as happy as a lark! Their salad bar is small, but they make their own mac & cheese, potato salad, and coleslaw. They also make their own cinnamon rolls. All you can eat salad bar and soup for $6.99. I ordered the small hand made tenderloin sandwich and homemade fries. Best tenderloin I've ever eaten! The breading was devine and the meat succulent. They pound out the tenderloins themselves. I could hear someone doing this in the back while I was eating. They were pretty busy with pickup orders and a steady flow of inside dinning customers. Everyone was wearing masks. There is more room inside than what it looks like from outside. They have two dinning rooms. The guy that was seated at a table close to me with his wife looked like Gabby Hayes to me. This is meant as a compliment. All in all I was very pleased and I shall return God willing. Also of note is that they had slices of various pies for only a buck. What a deal. Give them a try if you want to bump elbows with the common guy and gal. You will find those that are humble dinning here. One of the very best tenderloin sandwiches around, but the breading could have the salt...

Wow! Great fried chicken! The coating was so crispy and light. I'm craving it again!

Update: We went back 3 days later and found out the chicken was the special for the day. The first time we were there, I saw the sign about appetizer specials, so this time, we decided to try the "sampler.".

I should have listened when the wonderful waitress asked if we just wanted the chicken ala-carte, but I told her, " No, we'll take it all!". Lol. Check out the size of that sampler! I wish I'd taken a picture with our hand in it so you could see exactly how HUGE that thing was! Lol. Needless to say, our whole chicken dinner went into to-go containers because we couldn't resist all those fried goodies.

The chicken had to come home with us, where I hope it will be half as good as it would have been had we eaten it fresh! (Which is ten times better than I could EVER make at home!)

Do yourself a favor and try out this little "Diamond in the Rough" place.

By the way, the "regulars who were in there both times we went, made sure to tell us to try the tenderloin and the meatloaf. Maybe next time...after I get my fill of...

I don't care what anyone says this place is disgusting. I ordered a omelette WELL DONE and my eggs were still raw and runny in some areas. My toast was burnt and dry. My chocolate milk made me gag and I had to spit it back into my cup (which I never ever do ) but it was spoiled and had small chunks in it. My bacon was so floppy and under cooked it wasn't even funny! My boyfriend found pieces of hair in his food and his eggs were also under cooked and his sausage was so hard there was no biting it. Ive been a cook for 8 years and can honestly say it's so sad and disappointing to serve food like this and be okay with preparing someone's plate like this . I would NEVER ever cook someone's food and serve it like this. Our waitress never checked on us and never asked us how our food or drinks were. Our utensils were dirty and we tried to get attention a few times but apparently we were invisible unless it came...

My wife and I ordered a jumbo tenderloin it was so hard you couldn’t even eat it we also ordered onion rings and if you look at the pictures submitted with this post that was just wrong to call onion rings it was a big ball of breading all clumped together very gross and so hard and no flavor whatsoever by far in my 52 years the worst onion rings I have ever seen or tryd whoever is cooking there at this hour 7 pm should be demoted it was just a awful awful meal the cook and owner should be ashamed to even put that food out like that it may explain why at 7 pm the restaurant was dead it’s just a shame because we use to eat there all the time but have regretted the last 10 times of giving it another shot just horrible horrible horrible I would not recommend it until someone learns to cook there

First time here after a quick Google search this morning. Has a small town family type diner feel to it as soon as you walk in the door. Coffee was hot, the menu was very nice and you could not substitute but could order AlaCart, though, which is a plus. Food was good. They cooked the hash browns perfectly, and the veggies on the omelets needed a few more minutes as they were still a little crunchy but overall a great breakfast. Also want to note that they do serve grits which was really nice to find a place that offer them. Overall we will return for sure, just will request the veggies cooled longer and we will be happy campers.
