This class experience was a scam and was NOT worth the high price paid for the class. I planned the events for my friend’s bachelorette weekend and thought cookie decorating with Louise’s Cakes & Supply would be a great activity based on the website and prior reviews. When I booked, I knew the price was $65 per person to decorate 6 cookies, after taxes it was $71 per person. This class was for 7 people and totaled to $495.95, please keep that price in mind as I describe our extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience. I booked the class about 2 months in advanced, I talked to Mary, we got my date and time on the books. I paid all the invoices timely and send over cookie decorating inspiration that matched the theme of the bachelorette weekend. The main store is under construction, and we could not have the class there. Instead of the location being a cake store displayed and expected on the website, we were to meet at an unmarked event warehouse. Our group was running 20 minutes late, which was fine and we understood that would cut into our time. Once we arrived at the address directly sent to me, we were in a sketchy residential area. I was sent the wrong address which made us lost and it took us about 20 minutes to find the correct address. I wish I was sent the name of the event warehouse prior to the class or even a big store that it was near. During the time we ere lost, I called Mary and she verbally gave me poor and unhelpful instructions on how to arrive, simply saying it was in a shopping center. I requested to have a location pin dropped and I was sent a different address than originally sent. 40 mins late and once we figured out the place, we were supposed to go did not have any signage, we went in. Inside there was a ton of tables set up for an event and we were shown to a circular table in the back of the space. Overall, this was a very eerie and seedy vibe. The bathroom did not have any soap or hand towels. We jumped right into the class without introductions or allowing us to settle. There were only 3 icing colors (Pink, White, and Black) for our 6 cookies. It was very homemade, unprofessional, and underwhelming. The cookies were all different heights, and I wish there was more variety of colors. We kept being told that the consistency of the icing was not correct for what we were doing, since we were so late, I think there was plenty of time to correct this…right? The instructor did not see to have much of a plan for the decoration of the cookies and did not seem to be experienced with royal frosting at all, our cookies as first timers ended up looking better than hers. The instructor was not well at explaining what we were doing. We were only taught one “technique”. They were sparce with the materials and we all had to share icing bags and gold flakes. For the price we paid, we all should have had our own equipment that was made correctly. I wish there were example cookies premade, so we had a vision of what we were making. I do not feel like there was a plan with this class with the lack of instruction and vision. There was a known event starting at 5pm and people started coming in disrupting our time around 4:30. I was under the impression we had a 2-hour window for this class. Once the other people began to arrive for the other event we all felt very rushed and pushed out the door quickly. Eating the cookies later and they are alright- nothing special. All of our group was in shock and left appalled that it felt fair to this business to charge almost $500 for that experience. Overall, this class was NOT AT ALL worth the extremely STEEP price and I would NOT recommend it. Not what is advertised and not what we...
Read moreMy experience here was below average. I expected good things from my cake tasting here but I was thoroughly disappointed. My fiancé and I called and made an appointment to do a cake tasting/sampling for our wedding and the lady on the phone required that we pay $50 just for the appointment, however if we chose to use them, the $50 could go towards the cake itself. Reasonable enough. We get there at our scheduled time, the lady at the desk asked what we needed and we told her we were there for our appointment. She told us she forgot we were coming and that she’d rush to prepare us something. I’m thinking oh great. She seats us in this awkward corner nearby shoppers and the music was blaring so loudly that I found myself yelling to my fiancé next to me just so he could hear me. She brings out cold cakes from the freezer, and apologizes that she didn’t have anything prepared because the other girl who set our appointment called out. This was frustrating to hear because any good store manager knows that if your main person calls out, you need to take on their responsibilities for the day, so all I was hearing were excuses. She spoke very scatter-brained and just kept making it a point to repeat over and over that the other girl called out. Anyways, we try the cold cakes and they didn’t taste spectacular or anything special. In fact, the red velvet cake tasted burned. It was almost like they burned it and then froze it. The lady was not sitting down with us as we tried the cakes, she goes to get them, drops them off in our little corner, and then walks away to assist customers in the store. As she comes back to check in every 10 minutes or so (which by the way is a very long time to leave cake tasters alone which she shouldn’t even have done in the first place), she’s talking on the phone. She’s asking me questions from across the table assuming the sale of course, and I’m literally yelling over the music so she could hear me. The business itself was a little suspect from the outside but I hoped it would be a diamond in the rough...it wasn’t. Making excuses for forgetting our appointment and then making it worse by talking on the phone and abandoning us and all the other mentioned issues...I was not impressed. The lady who owns the business is apparently in her 90’s and has owned it for a while and I think “award winning” is a very loose phrase (meaning I don’t personally believe this award was recent.) I kindly hope anyone shopping here takes precaution and I’m honestly glad we did not use this company for our wedding cake, because I’m sure if that girl called out on our wedding day, the next one would make excuses as to why we never got a...
Read moreI am very disappointed and feel bad about the service we got! We tried to support her small business by relying on them for our wedding cake. After we had the cake tasting $50 and we had all the conversations about the design of the cake all the details. Mary said she will send me a quote by the end of the day, I didn't receive anything until next day. I text her, she said she will send by the end of the day again, then nothing happened, I was thinking she is probably busy, just give her another couple days, I text her again after 2 days, mentioned to her I don't know why I keep receiving you will send me the final quote by the end of the day but never received, as a bride I have thousands of other things have to finish. I hope this can be done soon, just reserve the date on the calendar. Then she told me:" in the south, we are super super transitional, this is Easter weekend, we are very busy popular cake place for so many years…" I was totally shocked!!! Not sure where she is coming from, I keep reach out to her by reminding her, I am sending you business, and her response was completely made me a bad day! I thought we were about done another task, but I can't risk on my wedding cake by this Unprofessional attitude even she called back to apologize, but tbh I didn't do anything wrong, she kept saying I am trying hard to help you, I didn't feel that at all! I feel her response was perfunctory, and she used technical smash on me about:" I am trying to help you!!" Excuse me?? I am the person who is trying to support your business by paying you, you are not charity! If you have big event just be aware, her cakes taste good but as she said she is popular and busy place, she might not able to delivery her promise to you. My mother in law also told me, she said she will send me an email, I never...
