This restaurant has REAL MAPLE SYRUP for those wondering.
Amazing food. Wow. The plating, the taste, everything should cost $30 or $40 and still be the best restaurant in that price range. Instead it's like $15 and is still some of the best chicken and waffles I've had in my life. It's totally out of nowhere and has basically changed my standards forever. I had chicken & waffles which came with breakfast potatoes, along with a side of turkey bacon. I'll admit I didn't have the poached eggs that came with them and didn't have the sauce that came with it either though so my review might be a little biased.
The chicken was fluffy & there was a lot of it. However it wasn't overly dense and filling like other restaurants which just serve greasy junk that makes you feel bad. The waffles were good as well and paired with maple syrup made them really delicious. What's weird about this place is that even though you get a lot of food, the food doesn't leave you feeling like junk/a food coma which typically happens with places like this. I felt like I had more energy after I left than when I walked in and it was a really good way to start my day.
For the sides I got the turkey bacon was good. I've eaten a lot of good turkey bacon (Trader Joe's, local stuff, crud department store stuff too) and the stuff I had here pretty much measures up to that. But I can't really go into detail because it was overshadowed by this "breakfast potato" side that comes with most of the meals that is hardly even mentioned on the menu.
The "breakfast potatoes" were somehow the best part of my meal despite being a little mentioned side and that says a lot considering the chicken & waffles overshadowed most of the other places I've ever gone to. I have no idea how they're made but they have this great savory taste which is enhanced by the pickles they come with. I don't know how they're made but they just blew me away and I can't really describe them. For reference, they're little potato bites, not fries. Little bite sized spheres of potato that taste like heaven.
The plating of everything was terrific as well. The photos that Google has seem like they're preplanned photoshoots posted by the owners. They're not. The photos you're looking at of the food are real and that's what's going to show up on your plate. I regret not taking photos but those are real. That's what the food looks like. It's amazing plating in a completely unassuming place. Yeah it's in an empty strip mall near a liquor store, but the parking lot is full every day at 10 am and they're sure as heck not...
Read moreWas excited to go to this place due to reviews and pics. Went on the 19th of May after a graduation. First, the waiter was nice and attentive. Also, the atmosphere was warm and inviting.(Insert sigh) However, please do not waste your money.Don’t be fooled by the nice pics you see.As said in a few other honest reviews, the food is not fresh. You can tell it’s prepackaged and nothing is cooked from scratch. The biscuit and gravy look like it would of been something, but the gravy might as well have been water ( due to consistency and taste) and I could have gotten a better biscuit at McDonald’s. The eggs look and taste like they came from a carton and the bacon had to have been precooked and then slightly warmed. Actually, nothing was hot, everything was luke warm. My friend got the chicken and waffles and the chicken reminded me of the ones I use to get in middle school ( pic-and yes on the left of the grits bowl is what they call eggs)The grits might as well have been cream of wheat. They try to drown it in cheese to help. I went hungry and left hungry. The sign on the table that states that you cannot send back your plate and be sure to choose a dish that “agrees” with you palette should have been my clue that things were going to go down hill. It’s bizarre to me that they get good ratings and are still open. The reason being must be because there aren’t really any good brunch spots around so people are settling.
Response To the owner: Not only did we speak to the owner and staff, we attempted to send back a few items but to no avail. Please just take feedback when given and adjust. No need to provide the repetitive response you give to each unsatisfied customer.Obviously your dishes have been a problem since you had to create a sign and place it on tables to warn people in advance about not sending back their plates. If you were paying attention, you would see a pattern in the negative feedbacks. Do not insult our intelligence. Just because you say it’s fresh does not make it so!...
Read moreI recently visited Untoasted, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the food itself was okay, it wasn’t anything remarkable.
The most frustrating part of the visit was the lack of accommodation for dietary restrictions. I ordered the steak and eggs and requested my steak to be cooked medium. The server responded, "We do not undercook steak in our restaurant," and informed me that the only options were medium well or well done. This was shocking, as I’ve never encountered such a strict policy anywhere else.
Additionally, I have several dietary restrictions and cannot eat starch. Instead of being able to substitute my toast, I was charged an extra $5 for three tiny pieces of bacon, which were undercooked despite my request for crispy bacon.
The service was equally disappointing. Some members of our party arrived later and asked for water while deciding on their order. However, the server never returned to our table, leaving one of my friends without food. Another server eventually came to close out our tab, but by then, the situation was beyond repair.
That said, I do want to commend the host, who provided the best service in the entire restaurant. He even brought us water when our server abandoned our table. His efforts were the only bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming experience.
My husband and I are willing to pay extra for good food and service, but Untoasted fell short on both counts. Between the lack of flexibility, poor service, and underwhelming food, this is not a place we...
