I've tried to support Magic Soul Food however, they need some help in customer service & professionalism. I had not been there since their grand opening because my 2 prior visits were not so great. I figured they needed time to improve before I returned. Time did not improve customer service.
I placed an order for a team lunch at work for 11/13 for a full pan of mac and cheese on 11/08. I had someone in my office call to inquire what was needed to confirm the order. We were instructed to place a deposit. I went in after work and placed the order. First thing the A/C wasn't working. The door was wide open. The cashier Brenda was not feeling well so she seemed a little out of it so, I let it pass. I asked the deposit amount she said whatever I wanted. Now, I am thinking $5 would've work since it was whatever I wanted. I probably should've left then but, I continued. I asked for a pick up time of 10:30am and I was told no, they don't open until 11am. I submitted a deposit of 50%. I left my business card and wrote my cell number on the back since Brenda wasn't sure if she put my name on the order. I then placed a seperate take out order for dinner that evening. While there the cashier struggled to cash out other customers who called in their orders which were not ready. One gentleman expressed his dissatisfaction and said he shouldn't have to wait if his order was called in. I was patient and waited for my food which was warm but, not hot. My turkey wings and green beans was a little over seasoned (almost salty) for my taste. The cashier did give me a piece of cornbread since I forgot to order it with my food.
The order I placed for 11/13/17 was not ready. The catering coordinator Shawn had no knowledge of the order. She said it was just miscommunication between herself and the restaurant staff because she handles catering orders over $100 only. Then she said it was her day off so she didn't have it on her schedule. Plus, kitchen staff don't answer ph calls and the ph lines open at 11am. She says the order was ready but, it was in the oven. This was after 11am even though I requested an 11am pick up. We started calling prior to 11am to confirm pick up. At 11:34am the mac and cheese was still in the oven. I told the person picking up the order to cancel the order and go to Publix. She said she already paid the balance due for the mac and cheese.
Our team lunch was delayed more than 45 minutes because it wasn't ready. They gave us the food in their steam pan not a disposable pan. We were asked to bring the pan back 😕. After we declined Shawn said she would have someone pick it up.
I asked for compensation for the inconvenience and Shawn was unprofessional. She asked " Are you all really asking for compensation for waiting 15 mins?" . I explained it should've been ready by 11am. She blamed my employee for coming late. I asked how if the order was ready it shouldn't matter what time she arrived that would've been our fault not theirs. In addition, I explained she had picked up other items before going for the mac and cheese so it was a big delay. We paid $60 plus tax for a bland pan of mac and cheese that was rushed. I feel they didn't make the order and gave us the pan they intended to put in their steam table.
Bottom line in business if you screw up take ownership and fix the problem. They could've been honest gave us a refund for not fulfilling the order. You don't make bogus excuses or blame the customer. Even if she would've said a store credit or discount on a future order. I could've kept their pan if I didn't believe in karma since obviously they couldn't find my business card. They copied the wrong address to pick it up. Since they agreed to pick it up I gave the correct address. They made a big mistake by not trying to salvage the business. I work for a large corporation and we order for our staff all the time from local businesses. I convinced my staff to try Magic Soul food this time around big disappointment. Read moreIt's very sad and frustrating to even have to write this review.but judging by the reviews from previous customers I was vindicated in my feelings that you the front cashier with a head scarf dark glasses and horrible narcissistic attitude was dead wrong.you pre judged me as a delivery driver and automatically gave a nasty attitude .first off u came out with bad energy like u were waiting to start a argument before I even opened my mouth.i explained I had 2 orders and u with a nasty attitude Said I only got one and because i.knew u were waiting to argue I didn't say anything because I knew it was 2 which u went back n saw then proceeded to tell me ok he making it.then i politely asked u if it was possible to let me know about hiw long so I could cancel the last order n low n behold u started with the ignorance talking about its always us and I'm sorry the man that was there who enabled u by saying u did right by saying you are organized was wrong.u could easily explained it would be less then 5.minutes can u wait over here.i explained I had a bad back n couldn't sit so u still in a crazy voice saying irrelevant ignorant stuff like me standing up would male people leave.u been there 6 years n everybody knows u.that means nothing I've posted screenshits from other races same attitude so I'm not crazy n I'm sure it would be hundreds more but most people don't use Google like that.last but not least please stop prejudice the druvers.i heard u yell the guy yeah he just a driver. Well ma'am this driver does it as a side hustle as I showed the gentleman I am well connected with lawyers law enforcement politicians judges professional athleast with over 26 years on the job as a supervisor and my.job is customer service.your attitude will be the downfall if the establishment if u don't change. Read moreOrdered over the phone the servers were. Ute little kids and that was fine and all what wasn’t fine was how disorganized they were. The young lady at the register was arguing with the little boy as it seemed he kept bugging her one way or another... There were two older women dining in and asked that their table be cleaned because it was very dirty.. the female server gave her some napkins so she could clean it. It’s when the other lady said don’t worry about it we’ll just take it to go.. a big guy from the kitchen came out and gave the female server a rag and she gave it and the little boy server who wiped the table for the guest 😠that was crazyyyy just watching. I stood in a long line just to pick up my food and it took forever. Although the food was ready I had to wait until the cashier went through everyone in the line and when it was my turn guess what all I needed to do was pay and leave... all that wait when they could’ve just took my payment and sent me on my merry way. The food is good that’s why I’ve supported but the service is horrible! Prior times I’ve ordered delivery they always forget something last time it was my cornbread the girl said it right away ohhhh they forgot your cornbread I’ll be back... welp hahahah she never came back! Theyve made several FREE money for undelivered food but my but like supporting black businesses...🙄Side note: They use to cater for my old employer and was let go b cause of inconsistency in food and service! Yes I’m venting today cause I’ve had enough and probably will never go back...
