I recently had a very unpleasant encounter at Kimchi Chinese Market that I feel compelled to share. Upon arriving at the entrance with my bike, intending to quickly grab a few items, I was met with hostility by what I assume to be the owner, a Chinese gentleman.
Despite explaining that I needed to keep my bike near the entrance to prevent theft, the owner adamantly refused entry, citing a no-bike policy. While I understood the policy, I was taken aback by the lack of empathy and understanding regarding my predicament.
To make matters worse, when I expressed frustration at the situation, the owner resorted to insulting and belittling me, calling me "stupid." Such behavior is completely unacceptable and unprofessional, especially from someone representing the establishment.
This experience left a sour taste in my mouth and has significantly diminished my opinion of Kimchi Chinese Market. Customer service should be a top priority for any business, and the behavior exhibited by the owner was far from satisfactory.
I urge the management of Kimchi Chinese Market to reevaluate their customer service standards and ensure that all patrons are treated with respect and understanding. Until then, I will be taking my...
Read moreI left the kimchi mart about 20 minutes ago and had a very horrible experience. I was shopping with my sister and we were blatantly being followed around the store. One older Asian male followed us down two different aisles acting as if he was checking on things but there was zero restocking going on. He not once touched anything, just kept eyeing us. The other follower was a very rude older Asian woman. She came down the same aisle and was watching us yet not touching anything. When I approached her to ask for a price check she was shocked to find me approaching her and rudely told me to check at the cash register. Down another aisle the same woman blocked my path and was throwing down boxes. When I told her excuse me she made a big show of moving out the way as if I was inconveniencing her. We've been shopping at the kimchi mart for several years and have never been so disrespected. Not one other person was being followed or watched, just two black women who didn't even have a purse in their hands yet did have a shopping cart full of groceries. I will not be spending my money here again until this store learns their problematic ways. Just because a person is black does not mean they...
Read moreA very much needed asian grocery store in this area. They have more than just Korean groceries; but also a lot of Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino household items and brands. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I love it when I manage to snag some Korean fried chicken. Always need to pick up some soju and kimchi as well as other Banchan they make.
They sell the meats needed for a kbbq as well as pre mixed marinade. I marinate the kalbi/bulgogi overnight in a ziploc bag, cook the following day via air fryer, pair with their fresh kimchi and Banchan over rice. Then I make kimchi fried rice with the leftovers for the following day.
Make sure to investigate the aisles closely because there are so many gems you might miss!
They haven't had nongshim potato noodles in a while but I think it's a national shortage. If you do get to try them, I love pairing with Sriracha, chili oil, coconut milk and Lime (you can find all these at kimchi mart as well).
They also have chapaghetti (if you've watched the movie Parasite, this the noodles the mom asked for) & pair with some ribeye from their...
