I love seafood but let's face it: finding good seafood in this COASTAL state is like finding a unicorn. It's always overcooked and rubbery, like eating an old tire on a bed of regret.
Enter Red Lobster, the reigning champ over TIRE-inspired cuisine. But, with their recent revival of Endless Shrimp, the hubbs and I decided to give them one more chance to prove us wrong. In the past, when we've gone there to indulge in their bottomless enticement of shrimp, they were always out of most varieties.
This time, however, they utterly bounced back from the 7th ring of overcooked seafood h*ll. Their lobster mashed potatoes was the stuff of dreams. Creamy and tasty, but sadly, not much lobster and the little bit it did have was chopped so small it could have been mistaken for leftover crumbles. But the sauce on the potatoes was amazing, so I looked past the lobsterless promises of lobster.
We also had the seafood stuffed mushrooms. WOW!!!! If you like...no, no, if you LOVE mushrooms, you have to try them. I mean, even if you don't, you HAVE to try them.
Then there was the shrimp. One of my RED LOBSTER favs has always been their coconut shrimp, so when the server told me they were out, I almost left. But, I had her ask to be sure, and after a ten minute trek to the kitchen, she told us they'd just gotten a shipment of my favorite oceanic friends. Naturally, we ordered them, along with the the dragon shrimp and the tequila lime shrimp, which left us asking if they'd forgotten to add tequila, lime and salt. The coconut shrimp and the pina colada sauce were amazing! The sauce made me a little sad that the condiment cup was so small because honestly, the sauce so good, I wanted swim in it. The dragon shrimp was outstanding, a little spicy, sweet and outrageously incredible.
Of course there was their cheddar bay biscuits, which need no description, only moans of joy and pangs of carby guilt.
My one complaint was that the server, though nice, was so slow in getting to us for anything that I truly felt like we was being served by a sloth, which was frustrating because it was just after 2pm, and the place was nearly empty. That said, we loved the food so we will definitely be going back to the Pines location.
On another, both the sauces were so incredible that the minute I got home, I looked up copycat recipes, AND FOUND...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI haven't.They've been coming here is very good minute, but last night, the wife, this time, that she wanted some RedLobster for Valentine's š. This used to be one of our normal places over the last 47 years. I've been with her but have dined with many families and many friends, and even some NFL starts. We stopped coming here because of my job. You see, I worked for ADT and would be allowed to walk into the manager's office, and for a period, the floor was always grease, and there was a peace of bread under a counter that was there for mounts. This was years ago, so don't freek, read on. One day, I came in, and the place was spotless. The old manager was moved to another store and this new management was amazing. I pulled him to the side and told him I would eat here again and why I said this. Now we stop coming again because of the service which leads me to last night. Our waitress was a young lady, and her name is Star. She definitely performed like a star, but I could also see that all the other waitresses were doing the same, and that was paying attention to small details. Everyone loves the bread, and they couldn't stop filling our bread tray to the point we had to say stop. They kept us up to date of our meal, it will be out shortly, do you need anything. I was like WHO ARE YOU?"" It was obvious that they wanted my business and want me to come back. I was impressed and have to give credit to the manager or whoever came up with this old Idia to provide the customer with what we have lost in this world, and that's customer service. Many people like myself don't mind paying more but demand good service. This was a good night, and I hope they keep this up and that it is a new movement across the board. The atmosphere needs some modernizing. I have no recommendations, but a new idea is out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this locations twice in the past and two weeks. I cannot tell you the last time I've even been to a Red Lobster.
Last week I went for the $20 Crab legs Tuesday special (they have specials for each night) and I was pleasantly surprised. They were the same size crab legs that you'd get at a seafood boil restaurant. I honestly expected some scrawny crab legs like you'd get at Publix. You could get the crab legs as simply steamed or roasted garlic. I opted for the roasted garlic. The meat itself didn't really have that flavor once you cracked it open which tells me the crab legs are just steamed and then the sauce is poured over it and tossed. It was served over a bed of crispy potatoes which I could've done without. With all that being said, it was still really good and I definitely go back for this.
I also went just yesterday to celebrate my niece's birthday. She'd been saying that she wanted shrimp so Red Lobster seemed like the perfect place since they have the endless shrimp. Right before going, I'd read an article that they'd increased the price from $20 to $25 because they didn't expect such an influx of customers and was experiencing profit loss because of the amount of shrimp being eaten. Even with that $5 increase, it is still a great deal. They initially start you off with 3 choices. I choose the grilled, scampi and dragon. The grilled and scampi was delicious. The dragon shrimp was very mushy in the inside. So for the second and third round I alternated between the grilled and scampi. It also comes with one side which I opted for french fries.
All in all I had a great experience and would definitely go back if they continue to keep...
