We have been coming here for years. Never a problem until our last two visits. The first of the two, went in and sat. Waited 25 mins for someone to take our drink order. Waited another 20 for someone to take food order. We were just getting up to leave when they finally came. Waited for food quite a while. And my husband was brought a piece of broiled fish about two inches wide by 3 inches long. We could not believe it. He was still starving and ate part of my meal. So, this evening we tried it again. Brennan was our server this evening. Drinks were brought in a reasonable time frame, however, Brenna was missing for about 25 minutes while we sat waiting to order again. My husband ordered corn muffins, and asked for apple butter when he ordered them. She returned with the muffins. But no apple butter. It was yet another 20 minutes before she came by our table, not to check on us, but .on her way to another table. My husband stopped her and asked for refills on both our drinks and the apple butter. She returned with one jelly pack of apple butter and the refills. We never saw her again. Eventually she was hurrying by our table and he got her attention and asked for the check. She leafed through her book, and said "hmmm. I don't know where I put your check. Must be laying somewhere, " and scurried off. We just looked at each other in disbelief. Eventually we got our check and left. I think we are finished...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend ordered the fish and chips. and it was horrible!! It was so over fried we could have bounced it on the wall and it still would not break...so I asked to have another order because I couldn't even cut it with a knife! So they bring me a new platter it's the same...so we decided to just send them back and just pay for our drinks and side dishes and the manager comes out being very very rude saying no you are paying for the fish and chips and I said no I'm not I can't even eat it so she yelled and said fine BYE...I had no problem paying for my coleslaw and soda but if you can't even cut fish with a knife and you can't eat it would you pay for it??? The server was rude. She not once even checked on us we had to ask for her. Read moreMy wife and I often eat here when in the area. Last week, an old friend and I stopped by for dinner. Many tables were labeled, "This table closed due to short staff." I didn't notice that the staff was less than average height 😉
Anyway, even with "short staff", the service was great, and the food - as always - was excellent. Dutch Country Restaurant serves a lot of "comfort food" and it tastes like your Mom made it for you. The menu is diverse, which makes decisions difficult (for me), because I want some of everything.
It is evident, judging by the regular clientele, that it is favored by "elderly folks", looking for a great affordable meal. If you are middle-aged to sixty-five, you'll feel like a youngster in here 🤣 But if you're younger, don't let that dissuade you - just consider it a testament to their quality. (A four year old will only drop the mean age by about 0.002%)
Another thing... If you decide to buy one of their homemade pies, which you should consider 😉 (for around $14), expect to take home a glass pie plate. It adds $5 to the price, but it is a returnable deposit - otherwise, you just bought yourself a "new" pie plate 😁 No crimpled aluminum pie...
