A Seafood Haven in Pensacola. Captain Joey Patti’s Seafood and Saloon in Pensacola, Florida, is a seafood lover’s paradise that promises a delightful dining experience. My recent visit to this renowned establishment was nothing short of spectacular, and the “Grill Mahi over Rice” dish I enjoyed was a true testament to their culinary expertise. The Dish: Grill Mahi over Rice The “Grill Mahi over Rice” is a masterpiece that showcases the freshest ingredients and expert preparation. The Mahi-Mahi, seasoned and grilled to perfection, was tender and flaky, with a subtle hint of smokiness. The lemon butter sauce added a rich, tangy flavor that elevated the dish to new heights. Topped with a vibrant mango pico, the dish offered a refreshing burst of sweetness and acidity that perfectly complemented the savory fish. Accompaniments: Rice: The rice served as a perfect base, absorbing the delicious lemon butter and mango pico juices, creating a harmonious blend of flavors in every bite. Baked Beans: The baked beans were a hearty and comforting side, with a rich, smoky flavor that paired wonderfully with the grilled Mahi-Mahi. Stella Artois Beer: To round off the meal, I enjoyed a chilled Stella Artois beer. Its crisp and refreshing taste was the perfect accompaniment to the flavorful seafood, enhancing the overall dining experience. Ambiance and Service: Captain Joey Patti’s Seafood and Saloon boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, with nautical-themed decor that adds to the charm of the place. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was enjoyable. Their knowledge and passion for seafood were evident, making the meal even more memorable. Captain Joey Patti’s Seafood and Saloon is a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts in Pensacola. The “Grill Mahi over Rice” is a standout dish that highlights the restaurant’s commitment to quality and flavor. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this establishment offers a dining experience that is sure to leave you satisfied and eager to return.

We had the special of grouper seasoned with Cajun with baby greens over rice. The Asian sauce did not go with the Cajun grouper, the fish tasted like yesterday, and the greens were going bad. Small bowl for 9.99 was just not worth it!! This was our first time—-Won’t be going back! I think the problem was that we don’t like Cajun flavor—and the fish was grilled instead of battered and fried— and it did not go with Asian teriyaki dressing on baby greens!!! I’m Asian, so I know. It was such a very small amount, and I left hungry—. The next day we were well taken care of at our favorite fish place for half the money!!! That review was 3+ years ago!!! Apparently—we forgot and ate there today 2-14-23 on Valentines Day of course. Food hasn’t improved. The fish was very dry—overcooked & that can also make it taste old—my husband meal looked worse than mine but he did not complain —Rebecca was our server—she was excellent!! Grouper wasn’t fresh—that means more than 3 days old; and the baby green salad served with it was almost missing—it was 90% old head lettuce—sauces were mediocre—the restuarant was completely full with people who couldn’t taste—>>> over 65 years old— or they had no taste!! I asked for the spring mix mentioned on he menu—& the waitress brought me a salad dressing cup with maybe 6 pieces of greens!!! I’m a chef I guess—so I don’t appreciate restuarant cooking that involves days old fish and old head lettuce greens that are not even green!! Wont make this mistake again. Back to the best eating places that have fishing boats out every day and serve 100’s at a time. By the big Pensacola water tank! Too much to pay for poor quality food!!! Okay I was invited to come back—-only if I can show the cook how to prepare the fish since mine tastes 10 times better!!!

3/8/2025 this place is not “Joe Patti’s” the iconic fish market like I thought it was. I went over to Joe Patty‘s seafood and he closed down his restaurant. I’ve had a great shrimp. Poboy at Joe Patti’s previously. I came to this one because I thought it was his new location. That’s when I realized I posted a review for this place because of the name “Joey” is not the same as Joe. 😂Their logos look very similar and I was very disappointed. My shrimp. Poboy was not nearly as good as the one I had at Joe Patty’s seafood restaurant. The french fries were cold. The waitress was very friendly. She went ahead and gave me cheese grits instead and they were pretty good. The shrimp was OK but nothing like the original Joe Patti’s I will not come back to “Captain Joey Patti’s” again. Atmosphere. High top Table of about 10 loud/fowl mouthed people ruined any “atmosphere” that the place may have had. Thank goodness for Avery the waitress was the only good part of my visit. Old review about 2015 for the original “Joe Patti’s” I have been at the takeout side of the restaurant twice. I like to get my sandwich and go outside and eat it. The food in the takeout side is the same as the restaurant. Excellent operation. Nice HAPPY employees act like they all have some sort of stake in the companies success. Top 10 Pensacola food places.

As a local and our first time dining in this establishment my family and I were very displeased and more than likely will not return. We were initially sat at an indoor table after requesting to sit outside. The waitress was very kind and quick to seat us outside, and told us she’d find a waitress for us soon. Our new waitress got our drink order writhing about 5 mins. Upon delivering the drinks she mixed up the coke and Dr Pepper stuck her nose in the Dr Pepper to determine if that’s what it was which happened to be my husbands drink however my mother ended up with it. Waitress said yep thats the right one, and then proceeded to take our food order. As we were new to the establishment I had questions about seafood platter #3 as I was only wanting the shrimp and scallops I was cut off by her saying she didn’t know the answer to my question of whether I could get xtra shrimp or scallops instead of the fish but she’d ask and that she was in a hurry to place our order so we weren’t waiting forever. Whereas I appreciate the gesture to get our order in quickly, she needs to learn some manners about interrupting a customer that is trying to find the perfect dish for them. I would have waited longer just to have an answer but I never got that. She also persuaded my mother into adding a fish that was not offered to her platter #3 after she had told her twice she didn’t want fish so in the end we paid an xtra $4 for the particular fish she suggested to come home with it because she didn’t want fish. We proceeded to place the rest of the order as we were a table of four. When it came out my mother got a double order of grits she didn’t order, and my husband didn’t get the xtra hush puppies he ordered. The grilled salmon was excellent I highly recommend it! the grouper and other fried items were not very flavorful and the shrimp was overcooked. Flies just swarmed our table along with the other 2 tables out there at the time. If I could suggest anything it would be to have citronella candles or something to make it more pleasant for the outside tables. Amongst that anytime we needed anything we waited 10 mins or more to see our waitress, drinks were refilled just once and only brought out when she had more to bring to other tables, she took my old cup and straw then walked away with it and I had to ask another waitress who happened to be out there for a straw. We arrived at 6:30 and didn’t leave until 8:30ish most of this time sitting and waiting for our server to show up with one thing or another we...

If you’re in Pensacola and craving seafood that’s as fresh as the Gulf breeze, Captain Joey Patti’s Seafood Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. This local gem, a cornerstone of the city’s dining scene, is owned by the legendary Patti family, the same folks behind Joe Patti’s Seafood Market, a world-renowned distributor just a few miles away on the bay. For decades, the Patti name has been synonymous with top-tier seafood, and Captain Joey Patti’s delivers that legacy in every bite. The lunch fish baskets are nothing short of spectacular. Picture this: golden, crispy-fried grouper, flounder, or shrimp, each piece bursting with the sweet, briny flavor of the Gulf, served piping hot in a generous portion that’ll leave you satisfied but already planning your next visit. The batter is light, never greasy, letting the fish shine, and the hushpuppies—oh, those jalapeno-infused pillows of cornbread—are a revelation. Paired with creamy, tangy coleslaw and your choice of fries or the creamiest cheese grits you’ll ever taste, these baskets are a love letter to coastal cuisine. Every bite feels like a celebration of Pensacola’s maritime heritage. The vibe is pure, unpretentious charm—think casual diner with a heart of gold. The staff, often led by the warm hospitality of the Patti family’s own recipes and traditions, make you feel like you’re dining at a friend’s waterfront cottage. Started by Josie Patti Merritt in 1988 as a humble sandwich shop, this place has grown into a beloved institution, weathering hurricanes and challenges with grit and grace, all while keeping prices reasonable and quality sky-high. It’s no wonder locals and tourists alike flock to their new spot at 1124 West Garden Street. Captain Joey Patti’s isn’t just a meal; it’s a Pensacola experience, steeped in family tradition and Gulf Coast soul. Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or just hungry for something unforgettable, the fish baskets here will leave you raving. Do yourself a favor—grab a table, order a basket, and taste why the Patti family’s seafood empire is a cornerstone...
