A Bead and Crystal House — Local services in Pensacola

One of the best rock and mineral stores within two hours of my town. Excellent selection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and even polished stones for jewelry-making. I will preface this by stating that I personally visit the store once or twice a month for my fossil and mineral collection; they offer more than that, but my main draw is the enormous variety of pristine minerals the owner has on display. The staff is more than friendly and is knowledgeable about their services; everyone here has good information about the more common minerals, and at least one member in particular is extremely well-versed in the spiritual benefits of the stones. The shop also offers classes and materials for crafting jewelry; you may want to call ahead for availability. The shop has a very earthy and inviting atmosphere; very new-age spiritual, while maintaining the local air of Pensacola Bay. To top off, the prices are all very reasonable for a specialty shop; many places up-charge considerably for this kind of quality and rarity of goods carried. This place used to be my favorite crystal shop, really the only one in town. But as time has gone on, it's dipped more into the "healing crystal" side of things. What once was a place with gorgeous, well priced specimens is now littered with chakra kits and dyed quartz. There's even a "crystal bed" that you can pay to lie down in. Seeing that really put the final nail the in the coffin for me. It is disgusting to tout these "healing crystals" as actually doing something, when in reality they are just rocks. The healing crystal market preys on ignorance, exploiting those who are looking for a way to solve ailments where other methods might have failed. You are scamming people every day when you sell rocks that you claim will help with mental and physical illnesses. You know they do nothing but you happily take money from those who don't know any better, selling cheap goods at a marked up...

I gave 2 stars only because I arrived around 3:30 p.m. on a Saturday, the store doesn't close until 5. There were 2 older ladies there that didn't even welcome me to the place nor were they in any rush to help me. This was my first time visiting and I was only number 2 of customers present. I didn't feel welcomed at all, the store had a negative energy presence as if my blackness was offensive!!! I'm not happy at all about my purchase, as I wanted to make a necklace with crystals. I was showed the smallest stones and they were put on a WIRE necklace!!! Not at all what I was looking for or hoping to make! But the crystals I chose, were the ones I wanted. If I ever do go back, I'll make sure I go with my co worker who has a beautiful necklace she made and also referred me...
