I came home for a bit this past December to spend some time with my friends and family. I had to pick a couple places to have dinner at, and Five Sisters was one of my choices. I had come here about 15 years prior, and I remember it was really good. So I wanted to relive that and get some great Southern food, since there's not great Southern in the peninsula where I live now. I had heard that Five Sisters had recently got sold to a restaurant corporation that's currently swooping through Pensacola. So I was skeptical. I dove in head first and tried like four things. Five, if you count a bite of someone's oxtail. First of all, they got some brownie points for being able to accommodate me and my party of 12 on a busy weekend night. You just gotta call them and say you're ok with sitting outside, and you can probably get any sized party seated. That's nice. Can't say that about everywhere nowadays. So anyway, we ordered some apps. Fried Green Tomatoes (Sliced, green tomatoes with a crispy, crunchy coating, served with jalapeño ranch dressing) and Wings (Ten wings flash fried and tossed with choice of sauce: buffalo, BBQ or lemon pepper). The tomatoes were banging. Thinly sliced tomatoes with a delicate, well-seasoned breading, perfectly crispy. The ranch dressing wasn't particularly jalapeno-y, but it was nice. And the wings, they were interesting. I can't remember what flavor I got, because the pic I have shows them all on top of a mustard-y sauce and draped with jalapenos. Maybe it was a special that night. They were nice, though. A good crispy, a good amount of meat. I like putting things on my wing bites, like jalapenos, too. Good app. As for the entrees, I ordered the Chicken & Waffles (Fried chicken rests on top of a crisp waffle, and served with syrup). This was pretty good. I got my waffle first and my chicken came out about 10 minutes later. That's bizarre. But the chicken was hot and fresh. Pretty typical in terms of breading and seasoning. Waffle was fine. And the syrup came right out of the bottle, no maple here. I also got to try the Smokin’ Blues Brisket Sandwich (Mesquite-rubbed, fourteen hour smoked brisket with sautéed onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese, served on Texas toast). This was also pretty good. Overall, this place was good. Everything was hot and good and not of a bad quality. Authentic Southern food it is not anymore, but it was a nice place for a nice meal.

My husband and I drove from Mobile,Al to try this restaurant out. I wasn't fond of the parking as the parking next door only held about 15 spaces but they had a HUGE parking lot across the street. The walk wasn't bad and it wasn't a busy street to cross. The hostess was very friendly and informed us of an estimated 30-35 min wait. We went to a café next door and our table was ready within 20-25 mins so that was a plus. It was busy and LOUD🤣. It was loud due to the live band I was hesitant to sit inside as it was my husband, our 3 year old and myself but we just said first available. I'm so glad we were seated inside. The band was amazing and definitely made the experience for me. They played songs that definitely had the crowd joining in amd they were also interactive with the audience. Our waitress was great. Even the food runner was great and didn't make us feel like he was there just to drop off the food as most restaurants staff can make you feel. Now for the food 🫣🤭. We got fried chicken with collars and mac and cheese, fried seafood platter with yams and red beans & rice, chicken & sausage gumbo, as well as the ribs with fries and coleslaw. Everything was good aside from the coleslaw and fish. It was left out when our food was initially brought out and I honestly feel like the young man( man i feel old 😪 🤣) was trynna help us out. I took one bite and knew it was not for me. The chicken was crisp seasoned and juicy 8.5/10. The shrimp were crisp and seasoned 9.5/10. The fish was crispy and seasoned HOWEVER whatever batter they used did not stick, I mean as soon as I broke into it the whole shell came off and honestly the fish seemed undercooked , 7/10. The yams were flavorful 9/10. The mac and cheese was decent 8/10, I prefer more of a cheese sauce. Red beans and rice was ok. The beans weren't tender enough for my liking and the sauce tasted more like a gravy that was made on the side instead of from the beans. The gumbo was perfect for is and my toddler was literally fighting us for it 10/10. Ribs were soo tender and the sauce was really good, 9,5/10. Fries were a nice cut and seasoned well 9/10. Collards were well seasoned and really tender. I enjoyed them but my husband said they were just ok but since I'm the foodie we're gonna say that I know best 9/10. The experience alone is worth a drive back in my opinion.

Visiting Pensacola for the first time and on my last day I wanted to eat some soul food. I found this place before arriving to Pensacola and was excited to eat some deliciousness. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken, thighs to be exact, with the sugar and spice yams and greens. The chicken was good. Had some seasoning I could kind of taste but it wasn’t enough. I ate it all though. The greens barely had flavor. I added hot sauce but put a little too much and then they were just ruined. The yams were terrible!! If you know anything about yams then you know they should be sweet and they were nowhere near it. They shouldn’t even be called “sugar” at all. I should’ve trusted the other reviews and I didn’t and that was a big mistake. And I had been craving yams for a long time so this was a major disappointment. So disappointed that I asked our waiter for sugar to add to it. Instead of him bringing me sugar he offered to swap it out for something else so I exchanged it for mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was edible but it was not southern style where the cheese is melted all throughout the noodles. It was just like a cheese sauce that was on the noodles with a little cheese melted on top. And that is not real mac & cheese. Real mac & cheese has real cheese melted all in between the noodles sticking them together, being baked in an oven. I came with my daughter and she ordered the shrimp fish and grits. I warned her that if she gets the fish she may need to ask them to fry it a little hard or grill it a little hard because the reviews said that their fish was not cooked all the way. She decided not to ask that and when she got her food to me the fish look like it should have been cooked longer but she ate it anyway. The shrimp she said it was good and the grits was good but if you want raw fish or close to it then don’t say anything and just except the fish as it comes but if you are like me and most others and want your fish cooked all the way through, not hard, but cooked all the way through, then you should ask them to cook it hard so that it comes out just right. In my opinion this place needs some work. The ambience is nice and the staff was professional but it does not have the southern touch that I was hoping for. The food is very water down. No soul food/African American touch to it at all. You’d do better at a mom and pop hole in the wall.

The menu is large and comforting, as the items listed are precisely what you'd expect from the name of the restaurant. The tables had oddly shaped, black metal legs, and there's a covered patio with tall Fench-door-style windows looking into the brightly-lit interior: all of which is to be expected from a restaurant that seems to be trying to bring a bit of New Orleans to Pensacola. They even had a jazzy-funk band playing (thankfully softly), adding to the Fench Quarter ambiance. The food? Not as richly flavored as we hoped, but still very good! I had the country-fried steak, my wife had the half-chicken, and our daughter had the fried chicken fingers, and we all had different sides - mac 'n cheese, fries, sweet potato fries, green beans, yams, and fried green tomatoes. The steak was thick and tough but satisfying. The half-chicken was a bit dry but tasty. And the fingers were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I wished the sweet and spicy yams had a bit more of either sweet or spicy. I wished the fried green tomatoes were thinner, cooked a little longer, and had a little more flavor. And that was the consensus view from the three of us on just about all of the food - pretty good, but has the potential to be loads better. The service was quick and attentive. They weren't overly busy on a Saturday when we got there at 5 pm, but were starting to fill out when we left around 6. Parking at the building is limited, but there is plenty of free parking about fifty feet down the street in a public lot. All in all, we say give it try. For the price, you really aren't going to find anything better in Pensacola.

Our brunch experience at Five Sisters Blues Café in Pensacola, Florida was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a fantastic atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The highlight of our meal was the fried chicken, which was amongst the best I have ever tasted. The flavors were exquisite, and the texture was perfectly crispy. The live music added an extra layer of enjoyment to our brunch, creating a lively yet comfortable ambiance. The music was just right, complementing the dining experience without overpowering it. The menu at Five Sisters Blues Café offers a wonderful variety of down-home southern cooking, catering to different tastes and preferences. The southern flair in both the food and the ambience added to the overall charm of the restaurant, making it a true gem in Pensacola. While the only minor drawback we encountered was the wait time, which was slightly longer than ideal due to the café's popularity, the staff made efforts to seat guests as quickly as possible. It was evident that Five Sisters is a popular spot for Sunday brunch, and the bustling atmosphere only added to the excitement of the dining experience. In summary, Five Sisters Blues Café in Pensacola, Florida is a must-visit destination for those seeking exceptional southern cuisine in a vibrant and musical setting. The outstanding fried chicken, inviting atmosphere, and live music make it a standout brunch spot in the area. If you're looking for a taste of delicious southern cooking with a side of musical charm, Five Sisters Blues Café is the place to be.

Just visiting the city for the weekend and Googled a good brunch spot for my Granny and I to go to. This place was one of the first to pop up within a 10 mile radius and with good reviews. I also saw it closed at 4pm (which is usually an indicator that the food is good..lol). And I am SO GLAD I chose this spot. Both the atmosphere and staff was AMAZING. From the hostesses at the front, the friendly waiters and waitresses who all took part in making sure we were comfortable, and the cook who came out to find out exactly how I wanted my eggs cooked when I sent them back because of a mistake that I MADE when ordering. Again, it was MY FAULT, but they had no issues redoing the order and it was perfection! The waiter even took his time to explain something on the menu to my Granny, which I really appreciated♡ I loved the smooth Jazz Vibe...it was very relaxing. My Granny and I ordered food and ate there... then we ordered food to go for my boyfriend and his brother. Of course, I dipped into their food before we left😂 Every single thing that I tasted was sooooo good. And I'm a cook and I rarely eat at restaurants where I like the food as much as my own! The Mimosas were the icing on the cake, costing around $3.50 or something close to that. I would definitely recommend this quaint little place to any and everyone and I will absolutely visit again when in town.
