We have been loyal fans and advocates of Joe Patti's for many years, but I just had the worst customer experience I've had in a long time. They close at 7pm. I walked in the door at 6:38 and received a number within 2 minutes. I asked the man handing out the numbers if I still had time to get shrimp steamed. He said yes, as long as I picked them out within the next few minutes. At this point I noticed a lady (no name tag, but wearing an apron and acting as though she was the manager) contentiously shouting at him to not allow any more customers in. She went on to shout various other things at numerous other coworkers.

The lady helping me was very nice and quick with her job, but when I arrived at the check out counter at 6:45, the cashier said they could not steam my shrimp, nodding in the direction of the shouting "manager." As I checked out she mentioned how, "we all need to just go home and get some rest." An obvious reference to the shouting "manager."

The only reason I went was to get steamed shrimp, and the first employee I spoke to assured me they could do it. I was in my car by 6:52, on my way home to steam my own shrimp because Joe Patti's couldn't be bothered to do it for me.

They need to seriously reconsider who they are employing to interface with their customers. Most of them were amazing, but the "manager" ruined the experience for my family. We probably won't be back for a while.

Any other employee I interacted with today would have managed that situation better than her, and I suspect they...

Update: We're back for the second year. Still a fun place to go. Friendly service and good seafood. Original post: We love Joe Patti's. Went there six times during our sixteen days in Pensacola Beach! The fish is fantastic. They do a great job of dressing the whole fish if you want, or there are plenty fillets to choose from. We ate over eight pounds of Royal Reds in various sizes and types. My fav are the large p/d. Also got smaller for scampi and some white. The remoulade, trout and cajun crab dip are to die for. And the clam chowder. Don't get me started. They throw in so many slices of sourdough it's a hearty meal. Don't forget the kids get a free gelato.

After you choose your fish and shrimp, you'll take your basket to the checkout where you'll choose if you want it steamed. Mild has only the tinniest of flavor spice. You'll pay for everything and they'll pack the rest of your fish in ice and give you a buzzer to wait for your shrimp. We were rookies last year and it wasn't busy, so they didn't give us a buzzer. We thought the shrimp was in the bag, so we walked out. Than goodness a worker came out to the parking lot running after us.

Time your visit right or you'll wait a bit. Late morning was good. After the evening rush around 5:30 was good. Good Friday at 3 was not a good choice for us, but who cares. It's fun to hear the numbers called and see what everyone is buying. I'm salivating looking at these photos and remembering pompano and Caribbean grouper on the grill and those shrimp...

Joe Patti’s is not just a seafood market, but a “destination” on the Emerald Coast. For decades our treasured friend John L. “Larry” Decker would send or gift fresh seafood from Joe Patti’s to special friends and family worldwide. He would always attach articles about the colorful history all of the locals know to share. So when he died, we had to prepare his world famous Joe Patti Seafood Gumbo and host a low country boil to honor him. We also made a six foot cutout of Decker and I “took him with me” on the final trip to get the last of the seafood for his “going away party.” The place was packed on a Friday morning and I was greeted at the door by the finest humans on this planet-the local Shriner Chapter. Despite the huge busy crowd, people took a number, shopped and waited patiently. I was helped by a terrific lady named “Doris,” who was cheerful and helpful. While I was there, they made the announcement that they are hiring and apologized for the wait, though nobody complained….the seafood was worth the wait. Thank you Joe Patti’s for being a part of our history and a valued Community Partner here on The Emerald Coast.

Joe Patti's Seafood Market: Fresh, Delicious, and Affordable I recently visited Joe Patti's Seafood Market in Pensacola, Florida, and I was very impressed with the quality of the seafood. I ordered the steamed blue crabs and the steamed and peeled and deveined jumbo shrimp, and both dishes were cooked perfectly. The crabs were fresh and flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked just right, with a nice, crispy exterior. The service at Joe Patti's was also excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they were happy to answer my questions about the seafood. I would definitely recommend Joe Patti's Seafood Market to anyone looking for fresh, delicious, and affordable seafood. **Pros:** * Fresh seafood * Excellent service * Affordable prices **Cons:** * Can be crowded, especially on weekends **Overall:** I had a great experience at Joe Patti's Seafood Market, and I would definitely recommend it to others. The seafood is fresh and delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are affordable. I will definitely be back!
