First time visiting. Dined-in. Interior decor was nice, calm and inviting. Everyone in our family enjoyed our chosen entrées. Food was very tasty. Spring roll ingredients were fresh. The various Pho’s served were delicious!
Please BE AWARE this restaurant charges an AUTOMATIC 20% gratuity when the check is first presented! Tonight’s level of table service did not warrant this. Tips are for performance & satisfaction, NOT a mandate placed on the customer. Furthermore, we did not have a large group. This practice/policy was not obviously posted, or it was perhaps in very small print posted inconspicuously — enough to “legally” say you warned the customer, but not obvious to be forthright and open!
FURTHERMORE, usage of Credit Card as payment will incur a service fee - no courtesy of informing guests of this policy. This additional charge automatically shows up on the final check after the credit card was run. This practice/policy was also NOT conveyed by the server, nor posted obviously/openly!
Food was delicious, and I’d be back on their merits alone, but these little UNDERHANDED practices leave an unfortunate taste on the palate!
Hello Vietnam, please just be open and transparent about YOUR practices/policies — your new customers will appreciate your honesty, and would more likely to return! This area in North Peoria is growing, and more people are bound to discover your restaurant! Do you want repeat customers, or just “one and done”?
Or… Raise your prices competitively because your food quality can support it. 👍
Leave the tipping to the discretion of the customer, and don’t use this “forced tipping” to pad your restaurant revenue. Excellent service/servers will get good tips!
And absorb the credit card service fee as part of your “cost of doing business” like other...
Read moreWe have eaten here many times as the pho has always been good. This was the first time with my parents, making us a party of 7, and my first time paying the bill as typically my husband pays. I was a little surprised when we got the bill and an automatic 18% gratuity was added. We normally tip but I just don’t like being surprised and forced to tip. Then I gave my card to pay and when I got the receipt back from the credit card charge it was a higher amount than the initial receipt. When I asked the waiter for clarification he said because they add a 2% charge for credit card. I understand this is what the app charges them so they charge us but again it was another surprise charge. I asked if either of these charges were displayed anywhere assuming I just missed it. He said they aren’t posted. They used to have a sign but they took it down and maybe when the new menu comes out it might say it on there. This seemed wrong, if you are going to charge extra you should be upfront about it. I then asked what size party constitutes an automatic gratuity he said 5 or more. This also seemed crazy as I’m used to parties of 8 or more being charged automatic gratuity. 5 is not a big party, you don’t even have to put 2 tables together to accommodate 5 people. None the less it is their right to charge for whatever they deem a large party I just firmly believe it should be advertised and not a...
Read moreIf you receive a "promo" from them, do not try to use! I was sent a promo that I needed to make a reservation to use. I even received several emails and texts confirming my reservation and asking if I was still able to make it. When I got to the store (which is far away from me by the way) the host had no idea what I was talking about, not about reservations nor about the birthday promo I was given and showed him on my phone. He went to ask someone and came back and sat us, but it did not seem like he understood still. So I showed the email and asked if it would be honored. He seemed very confused so another person came to see if they could help. He seemed confused as well so he asked if he could show my phone to the other staff in back. When he came back he said none of them had ever seen such a thing before and they had no idea what it was! Keep in mind, this was a promo I received by signing up with this company directly through their website. Thankfully he offered to give me a discount for my troubles, but it was a huge fiasco and not at all what should have happened. Why would you send out promos that you do not intend to honor, especially since it was for my birthday and I had received many confirmations prior to my visit,...
