We came in about 8pm on 12/9/17, a Saturday night with a relatively large party of 12. We had just come from a tournament and had kids with us, youngest was 13. While we were seated relatively quickly, it went downhill from there. Our waitress definitely seemed annoyed with us from the get go. She brought drinks out, but when one of the kids reminded her she had asked for no ice, she sighed and handed the drink off to another and NEVER brought a replacement even though we reminded her several times.
It took an hour for her to come back to take our order (Now 9pm) and 30 minutes after that, started telling us they were out of things. Cod, Pot Roast, Cabbage on the corned beef and cabbage special, then 15 minutes after that, corned beef. A bowl of soup that was ordered came as a cup...and our waitress dumped and ran and wasn't seen for lonnnnng periods of time.
10pm, we're getting our checks. Mine was wrong...we had 2 corned beef and cabbage and one shepherd's pie. I reminded her that we had to swap a corned beef & Cabbage because they were out. "Oh, that's ok, it' doesn't matter." she said. Um...the special was $5 more than the Shepherd's pie! She threw down the credit card tray she was holding on the table and snatched mine from my hand. When she finally came back, she roughly handed it to me, never an apology.
So a synopsis: 1 drink never delivered to a child. 1 soup that was supposed to be a bowl, came as a cup. 2 pot roasts changed due to availability issues 2 corned beef and cabbage sans cabbage 1 corned beef and cabbage swapped for a shepherd's pie due to availability yet charged as the more expensive plate
And yet not one apology nor any credit on bills for inconvenience (or lack of key ingredients to the plate) and TWO hours with children (who by the way had to be back at a tournament at 7 am the next morning). What should have been an hour tops, turned into a two hour fiasco! Meanwhile, they are allowing smoking RIGHT OUTSIDE the door. Isn't there an Illinois law against this?
Not a family friendly place, not a hungry person place.
Added side note, most of us ended up with indigestion. Whether that's because of the quality of product or because we ended up eating so fast due to the long delays, we're not...
Read moreComing from out of town we were excited to try a local venue. We loved the idea we could sit outside with our dog and have lunch. I only wish we could have gotten the young lady who came over and spoke to us about our pup and the street block party that night as our server. Instead we received a complete opposite. Rachel our server was not friendly barely looked us in the eye. She came back 3 times to ask us what our order was but barely giving us time to review the menu. She rushed us the entire time. Mind you no one was sitting outside and hardly anyone was inside. My husband and I both ordered beers. Hard to mess that up. Nice and refreshing on a warm muggy day. We ordered an appetizer crab balls almost like, but hardly and crab and tasted of the oil they were cooked in. Bummer, was looking forward to those. Then I ordered bangers and mash. It’s and Irish pub and I wanted something not a burger. It had no flavor. I was shocked. It presented well and looked pretty, but no flavor. Gave me incentive to go home and perfect this dish because I was so disappointed. My husband ordered the Irish trio. Interesting. I have never seen Chicken pot pie come out as soup and look like it just came out of a can. Again no flavor. I am beginning to think the chef forgot spices. The shepherds pie looked more of a normal dish but again no flavor. Blah on everything, except the soda bread. The bread deserves praise, maybe they don’t make it in house. The kicker was when we got the bill. I ordered a piece of chicken breast with nothing on it, no sides just a piece of chicken that I could cut up for my pup. Who enjoyed the chicken. $16. All it was was one chicken breast- nothing else on the plate and it cost more than my meal and my husband’s meal. Honestly I should have said something but our waitress who seemed to have woke up on the wrong side of the bed, was not friendly so I just paid it and we left. I would maybe try the place again for beers and music, but not food or...
Read moreDo not care for the parking situation. You must park across the street then hike over and around to the only accessible break in a fenced barrier across pavement, brick and rail road rails, then you can finally address crossing the street. Once inside I was met by a very nice matradee who asked if I had a reservation. No I said, just a seat at the bar. She told me to go right in. I did, grabbed a seat and waited a short time to order what turned out to be a very tasty wheat beer. 2/3rds of way through my second beer I was contemplating having another when I was swarmed on both sides by adult Bradley University persons. Being squeezed and boxed in, very rude, I left. Service was good, my beer glass was clean and nicely chilled. Then there's the hike back to my vehicle.
Update, took my date for a night out here and we were seated by a very nice if somewhat confused matre d. Tried to seat two seniors at a high table when there were plenty of open regular tables. She gave us no trouble when we said no, just thought it was odd like she had just been chewed out for seating people in the wrong places. As time passed and more customers came in it was apparent she was trying to cram as many in a space as possible because she offered this high table right next to the door to everyone that came in and they all asked for a regular table. After watching for a while it became apparent that the waitress was calling the shots, what was convenient for her not the customers. The waitress herself showed us a professional courtesy if not somewhat cold. We were waited on quickly, our drinks hit the table and our orders were in. I drank most of my Sam Adams Octoberfest when my shepherds pie and my dates potato soup arrived. She dropped off the food and left us. I would have liked to have had a couple more but didn't get the chance. Both our dishes were hot...
