Edit: -The drinks I ordered were either not available or inconsistent taste wise with the prior two times. -The tickets specified that I wanted beans and rice in separate containers, they were not. -my green Chile tamale had sauce on it, I ordered sauce on the side. -my green tamale had meat in it, which I don't believe it did the prior two times -I ordered salsa and clicked that I wanted the complimentary hot sauce, but did not receive the hot sauce. I drove back around for the hot sauce and was asked but you got a half pint of salsa... yes, I paid for the half pint of salsa. I still want the complimentary hot sauce, which I did not receive last time -the shredded beef in the tacos was super dry -the fish tacos were good. I ordered one but got two. Not sure if two constitutes one order or if it was a mistake. -the green sauce on fish tacos tasted super fresh and yummy -all lettuce was iceberg, which is what I prefer but the last two times it was all Greenleaf lettuce -consistency is off for sure.
Long review to follow: Sorry I was hungry and didn't take pictures... while there may be a few personal preference critiques, they are by no means complaints and are all easily made perfect.
Today was my first time going to Someburros. I ordered online, and picked up through the drive thru. The order was ready promptly even though I was 15 minutes earlier than the promised time. The girl at the intercom and at the window were very pleasant.
-I signed up online and was immediately granted $5 off a combo, $5 off a pollo fundido, and a free churro. I used the $5 off the combo. So with this discount, a kids meal, a combo meal, an extra taco, chips, and multiple salsas cost $20...
-the green sauce on the corn tamale was super yummy. Spicy but not hot... -The hot sauce that was complementary was more than enough (6 containers), not overly spicy but definitely had good spice/flavor. -The green tomatillo salsa was spicer than and my mouth is still paying for it, but I had to pay for it. -The mild salsa, was very fresh and flavorful, but I had to pay for it. -I wish there was an online way to get a couple of each sauces complementary. (I mean there could be a way, it's just my first time.) -The $2.50 Taco Tuesday deal was very much worth it. While I thought the shredded beef needed salt, my husband thought it was perfect as is, and that is an easy personal fix. -The carne asada taco, the meat was good. My 2yo devoured it. My husband thought it needed more flavor and preferred the shredded beef hard taco for half the cost. -The bean tostada, which I ordered knowing it would not be crispy by the time I ate it... holy moly, an hour later, it folded perfectly like a bean taco that was still crispy on the edges and was better than I expected. -The red sauce cheese enchilada was very good. I am very picky on red enchilada sauce and I'd order this one again for sure. -The side of rice and beans were both so yummy! These are really good beans. My 2yo ate all the rice before I got a second... so I'm guessing those are great too. -No complaint about the chips but I also wouldn't need them in the future. I also wouldn't turn them down. Just wish they came with a salsa. -Interesting surprise, I was expecting iceberg lettuce and it was green leaf/romaine? Not sure. But it worked well. -The strawberry lemonade was super yummy. -The churro in the kids meal was missing. But I called and asked if I could come get another one next week when I'm down there again, the lady I talked to was more than accommodating. Can't wait to try the churro next week. :) -Cost wise, quality of food, amount of food, and customer service, I will come back when I'm in the area for sure! -I'm excited to go back next Tuesday for tacos for my husband and to try the green corn tamales with green sauce, the pollo fundido, fish taco, and anything else that comes to mind. -Super sad to know to lived down the street from a Someburros most my life and never tried it until it came to Peoria, which is a new part of town for me. -Give it a try,...
Read moreMy partner was ecstatic they were building one within a mile of our house, knowing them from the east side, so we decided to go day after they opened. What a train wreck, really hope it was just opening jitters, but it was pretty bad, both service and food...
Annoyingly they offer "smothered", but don't really list a price, so you just sorta guess how much you're going to get taxed, but it sounded good, so I got mine that way. It took 10 minutes to order ourselves as the staff were fighting with the POS, and the kid running it looked 15 and never operated anything more complex than a nintendo in his life was lost. We were lucky getting there with only one person ahead of us getting there.
As we waited a good 20 minutes for our food, I watched the poor kid struggling at the counter, and the line now had about 12 pair/families lined up about to the door. He was still working on the 4 people that were right behind me! People were getting angry now.
Finally our food arrived so we stopped watching the people get more angry and some of them leaving now. Mine came out as a Chimi (maybe all smothered things are Chimi? didn't say), but it had like a few spoonfuls of their fundido sauce on it that barely covered the thing, so now I just have a crunchy burrito I'd have rather I could just grab as a regular burrito, and proceeded to just douse it in their hot sauce myself. So much for "smothered" anything, hers was equally non-impressive .
After everything $40 bucks out the door for 2 people and a generally pretty miserable experience, neither of us were excited anymore about Somburros - back to Fedrico's. It was nice inside, they had good hot sauce, but the rest was just bad and nothing...
Read moreMy first time at Someburro. A young lady at the register took my order. I ordered a carne asada burrito with no onions, and she said that the burritos don't come with onions, only cheese, sour cream, and beans. To which I responded, please put beans on the side. She repeated the order back to me, and I added, "No onions." She was diligent and added a note to the order even though the burrito didn't come with onions (see pic). I waited 20 minutes for two burritos. I get home, hungry and behold, there are beans and griiled onions in my burrito. Also, I was misinformed because there was sour cream. I have to give props to another young lady at the food window w ho seemed to be the only one (out of 6 others) paying attention to her surroundings. She asked me if I had been taken care of. Everyone messes up, I get it. It's annoying because it's my first time there, and my order was all wrong. I'm still thinking about whether I'll go back or not. We'll see 👀.
Update: Management reached out to me on the same day as my original review and offered me a $15 gift card. That was nice of them. I went back about a week ago and dined in for lunch. I had the carne asada taco, it was delicious! It's very tasty, not salty. I also had the fried/crunchy chicken taco. The chicken taco tasted like fish. I'm guessing because they fried it where they fried fish. I wasn't crazy about it. The gal at the register was friendly and attentive. She has good customer service skills. Their outside seating area was very refreshing. The weather helped....
