I recently ate at American Deli in Perry, Georgia and wanted to share some thoughts. First off, the food was fantastic. The cooks there really know what they're doing, and it's clear why people love the place for its meals. However, I ran into some issues with the service that I think are worth mentioning.
When I was placing my order, I had a bit of a hard time understanding the cashier because of her accent. This isn't a big deal on its own – accents are a normal part of life, after all. But it led to some confusion over my order, especially with the side items, and we had to go back and forth a few times to get it right. I tried to be as polite and patient as possible, repeating my order from a list to make sure I was being clear. It seemed to me that the cashier might have been having a tough day, as she appeared to get frustrated. I even said sorry towards the end to try and smooth things over even though I did not need to I just wanted to change the atmosphere but it did not really help.
I noticed that this seems to be a recurring issue at this American Deli, not just with me but with others too, including my wife who had a similar problem a few months back. It's nothing to do with the food, which is great, but the experience of ordering can be off-putting. I'm not saying this to complain for the sake of it – I'm young, and these things don't bother me too much. But I think it's important for the place to know so they can maybe improve. Good service makes a big difference, and it's a shame when it doesn't match up to the quality of the food.
For now, if I go back, I'll probably stick to online orders to avoid any hassle. I hope this feedback is useful. I believe a little improvement in how orders are taken could make eating at American Deli an even better experience.
Respectfully,
A Customer Hoping...
Read moreI ordered a non-wet lemon pepper wing combo with DRY seasoning. If you eat wings often, and have also eaten at other American Deli restaurants then you understand what that means. Instead I was given plain fried wings, no seasoning, and then lightly sprinkled lemon pepper seasoning on top at the counter. I tasted the wing and it tasted like a dry chicken wing. I tried to explain to the older Asian man what was wrong with the order. He IMMEDIATELY got an attitude. He then took the wings that i had just had in my mouth and gave them to the man in back who placed them in the lemon pepper container they use for EVERYONE and shook it around. (Please be advised I could be sick.) That was the most laziest unsanitary thing I’d witnessed in a while. He became even angrier when I explained that was still not correct and angrily gave me my money back. (I did not ask for that, I just wanted the wings made correctly). Unfortunately, I can almost guarantee you someone who placed a phone or online order is probably sucking on those germ infested wings. I don’t recommend this...
Read moreI called in an hour before I came. Still wasn't ready. Came in and paid and waited. Everyone before and after me left. Even ones who ordered more than me. I waited 20 minutes patiently and the guy kept saying number 181 several times. No one ever claimed it. Mine was 281 so I walked up thinking maybe it was the wrong number. He opens it and I say oh no it's not mine. The Asian guy goes and rudely says oh well why are you even up here, go. I kept silent because that's not my thing, but that is so unprofessional. All the guys that were in there got mad. I did nothing wrong for that. Then he walks off and still makes me wait while the guy in the back is laughing with him. I will not come back here. Got my food another 15 minutes later! S Deli Wings next time. Yall try there. They are friendlier!!! Wings were...
