Here's the thing about Georgia Bob's. I have lived in the Middle Ga area almost my entire life so I feel like if I say anything negative about their food, I'm gonna wake up and find a dead pig carcass in my driveway. Anyway, here goes. Soooo everyone raves, and I mean RAVES over how scrumptious their chicken salad is, and it's just ahh sneaky (?)because it looks yummy, appears delicious but has given me a terrible stomach ache the last few times I tried to eat it. So, being The loyal and good citizen of Houston County that I am, I decided to try their homemade paminto cheese that, here again, is a local and coveted concoction that everyone in Houston County RAVES about. ( Warning: it just goes downhill from here ).
Well after a rather spicy (???), half dissolved, processed cheddar cheese mixture I cleverly placed on two pieces of their homemade garlic bread began to digest, it sent me running, as in not skipping or lollygagging, to the bathroom, nauseated, swearing at inaniment objects all because I should have known better. Ok so ya know their ribs are good, ok not really, their ribs make me sick on my stomach too. And I actually have an iron clad stomach ( I eat at ElJays all the time ). So, in closing and in fear of banishment from the city never ever make a chicken salad or pimento cheese sandwich using their garlic bread, EVER. That is unless you like sitting on your porcelain throne AND vomiting into a trashcan at the same time. I feel like such a traitor right now but it's the truth. GA Bob's gives me horrible stomach aches and I think their is something wrong with the way they process or handle some of their food. Ok y'all get in line, let the...
Read moreThe staff was very nice. The Coca-Cola was good. The Lay's Potato Chips were good. The food was awful. The Mac&Cheese was closer to soup and flavorless soup at that. It tasted like canned cheese sauce, watered down and poured over already overcooked noodles. It wasn't baked at all. I have no idea what was in the Brunswick Stew, but I don't ever want any again. I asked for outside pork and got a pile of orange pork that already sauce on it and not a very good sauce. The pork was mushy and dry at the same time. We placed our order for sauce at the counter and we got a ramiken of each flavor - sweet & spicy. I could have bought either at Kroger. I don't usually get this upset about restaurants, but if you're going to advertise that you are an award winning pitmaster then your restaurant ought to live up to it. And if you want to tell me it does, then I'm going to tell you I might as well quit watching TV cooking shows because clearly my standards and theirs don't align. I won't be back and I would encourage you to save yourself the time, money and disappointment. And to the people of Perry, you are some of the nicest people and you really deserve a better...
Read moreBeen coming here since they opened 6-7 years ago, used to be a seafood restaurant. Anyway, the quality has gone from excellent to mediocre at best. Paid them a visit today and the first thing I noticed was an empty parking lot and this was at 12 noon. A sullen cashier took our order, used to be a happy staff who greeted you as you entered; that’s now gone as well as any money to the tip jar. The table we selected had food all over it so we elected a clean one. Catsup bottle was empty so we had to retrieve one from another table. When my wive’s Carolina pork sandwich arrived, the bottom bun was so saturated with liquid, she disassembled it and I returned it dripping to the counter and requested another bun so the cook staff gave me just that, the bottom bun half. Really disappointing since it’s always been on our go-to list, not anymore though.
[UPDATE] Tried them again today after a year since my last review. Witnessed this employee behind the counter lifting her T-shirt and applying deodorant while my wife stared in shock. Couldn’t she take a minute to visit the ladies room? ...
