We’ve been eating here since they opened years ago, just curious if there has been a change of ownership. The food has consistently gone downhill, the ground beef in the Taco salad had Zero seasoning, the Chimichanga that I ordered has been shrinking smaller with each Visit to the point yesterday it was the size of a standard candy bar,.. also even on the Menu the description of the Chimichanga is deep fried .. the ones I received were not fried, basically a very small Burrito , very sad because this place used to be the best in the area.. also we ordered the standard guacamole dip (not the table side) like we normally do, but this visit it was obviously some pre packaged dip not made in thier kitchen.. the decor and atmosphere are excellent the serving staff is excellent and friendly…. But I’m afraid the food makes the restaurant..
Just gave them another try this week , and once again Ordered My Favorite "Beef Chimichanga" Dinner this time ... again it came with the Minature Prepackaged burritos in place of a Chimichanga Again NOT Deep fried like thier menu states.. and 1 thing I forgot to mention earlier You get a "Choice" of Beans or Rice .. Virtually every Mexican resturant Ive ever been to serves Beans & Rice with at Least thier dinners... sad but at least there are other choices in the local area that arent run by accountants instead of Chefs/Cooks. ...and BTW I beleive the tale of the Parking lot tells the Story , Before the Remodelling the Parking lot was always Full... Now just a...
Read moreHadn't been in this restaurant for a longtime because last time we were there we had a bad experience with the food and the service was very poor.. This time we decided to try because another family member said it was good and other reviews for last 6 months have been very satisfactory.. So, the food was very awesome and tasted very authentic.. However, the server we had , we had a bit of a language barrier.. It seems as though he had a hard time understanding a food allergy of a family member that couldn't have the specified menu salsa and or sauces spilled all over the tops of the food items.. Family member could only eat what was served inside burrito or taco or tamale, but not served on top of tamale or others like that, but other than that the inside was totally remodeled and no longer looked like the Monical's Pizza it used to be on the inside .. It was all modernized with new leather chairs and booths, new black tables and decor all around.. we were pleasantly surprised at how it looked and how great the food tasted.. just wish we would have had better server experience.. we will definately return and have found a new Mexican restaurant as our favorite.. We were reluctant to return because of a prior experience, but that was at least 5 years ago.. No longer will we be frightened to return here more frequently.. Next time, I HAVE to leave enough room to try 1 of their VERY YUMMY LOOKING DESSERTS, that were on menu.. We were ll too full to fit dessert...

After the remodeling, the food still GREAT, the food is still fresh and the staff is super friendly. When it is not too busy sometimes they chat with you (if you happen to frequent the establishment often). The owner definitely takes pride on his work. By far the best in the Illinois Valley area (probably better than other Chicago areas). For non latino eaters, I'd be cautious with any super spicy hot foods although the waiters already know and caution you beforehand. If you live by LaSalle county this place is a MUST to go.

OK so I did mention about the "saltiness" of the food...make sure you ask the water to take it easy with the salt... Other than that I can give this place an "OK" for eating!
You gotta try guacamole!!! They make it on your table and almost totally customizable!

I've been there several times. All of them good experiences:
PROS: Menu (variety) is great. Prices awesome. Service is great. Atmosphere is great (lots of TVs). Gotta try their guacamole (made in front of your table)
CONS: My biggest one is that lately their seasoning on some foods (e.g. say the inside of an enchilada) has been TOO SALTY for your taste buds to bear (I dont remember this being the case before). I would recommend toning down that salt seasoning. OR... tell the waiter to remind the chef to take it easy...
