DO NOT INSTALL THROUGH HOME DEPOT! I ordered flooring and installation from Home Depot in Peru, Illinois, and it was a headache every step of the way. Home Depot NEVER ONCE called me during any of the following steps of this process: To give me a quote: The measurer said that someone would call me within 48 hours for a flooring quote. After 48 hours had passed, I had to call and get it myself. I also had to pay in full including the installation, over $5000. To tell me that there were lost materials from my order and that my installation would be delayed: I was told my flooring would be delivered within three weeks. After three weeks of waiting and no communication, I called and asked what was going on. The employee told me that none of my trim ever came in, so they had to reorder it. To tell me when my product came in and was ready to be delivered: I called again to see what was going on, and what do you know, all of my product was there, but no one had bothered calling me to schedule delivery. To follow up after the installers said they couldn't install the flooring because my subfloor wasn't level: The installers came from Chicago, and they weren't happy about how long the drive was. When they got to my house, they immediately started telling me there was no way they could install the laminate flooring because my floor was uneven. The installers said that the person who came to measure my house should have noticed it and told me that laminate wouldn't work. To offer new options for flooring: I drove to Home Depot the same day to pick out new flooring. The employee there said that vinyl would be best for my floors, but had no vinyl samples to look at. None. Instead, I asked for a quote on nail-down hardwood, which the installer recommended and said would work for my house. To follow up with a quote after I asked for quotes on several different materials: No one ever called me. I called three times to ask for the quote on the hardwood I had chosen and no one ever gave me one. To schedule a time to come pick up the flooring for a refund: I had to call again to get the ball rolling after the unused flooring sat in my house for weeks. To process my refund: After a week of waiting, I called Home Depot to ask about my refund. The woman on the phone said they had just taken care of it and it would take three business days to process. Why? The flooring was returned 7 days prior. When they charged me the $5000, as you can imagine, it came out of my account the same day.
Over the course of this catastrophe, I spent hours on the phone with them, and every single time I called, it just so happened that whatever I was calling about had "just happened that day and someone was about to call me."
I agree that the employees are friendly as can be and very helpful in person, but ultimately, only when called upon. I would not recommend Home Depot for any situation other than purchasing in-store and...
Read moreHome Depot in Peru has gone above and beyond to troubleshoot the errors made by Superior. Andrea and Dan have helped immensely with putting together all the pieces needed to get our home completed.
*Update: Adding a star at this time as I did receive a call from Jordan on 03/12. I was able to get some solid information to help know the next steps.
03/11/24: Sharing in hopes that others will have a different experience with Jordan D. through Superior Installations, (an Authorized Service Provider for The Home Depot). There is consistent lack of communication, such as no follow-up calls when he has actually set the date for such follow-ups as well as the preferred method of communication. (All of our communication should involve the services we have purchased at Home Depot, as we have put trust in them in the amount of approximately $45,000 for a home renovation).
Nevertheless, this particular aspect of the renovation (flooring installation) continues to have many questions left unanswered, including a (current) couple-week gap with no work being completed. We took it upon ourselves to deep dive and research aspects of flooring installation on our end.
During a phone call prompted by me (one day after Jordan set the date to follow-up that never occurred), I inquired about why only certain areas of the baseboards were completed. All we were told, initially, was that we were waiting for transition pieces. He seemed perplexed. Once I sent images to attest to this, he did respond after “looking into it,” stating it was “because door casing was not yet installed.” We had previously been asked about door casing; we were also told that there would be no interference regarding casing and the flooring installation. This turned out to be inaccurate and was not communicated; I’m still not sure how we would have known had we not felt that something seemed “off” and probed a bit further on our own.
We were hopeful that we could rely on professionals to help facilitate the renovation and help with keeping us informed with their expertise/knowledge. Most of all, it’s one of the primary reasons we have invested in all services through Home Depot (again, around $45,000).
It’s only been through rigorous research and what feels like another full-time job of sorts (on top of our healthcare careers) that we’ve essentially had to piece together the process ourselves.
When I’ve asked for clarification or feedback from the aforementioned individual, it has been oddly unhelpful and extremely vague.
I’m hoping that our floor installation through Home Depot will be completed and that Jordan can utilize his job description of building relationships with Home Depot locations to help answer our questions and communicate effectively.
I’m happy to update this review moving forward & any would greatly appreciate Home Depot and its service providers giving guidance as to...
Read moreLooking for carpet and the sales representative was very helpful and knowledgeable. Set up an appointment to have our rooms measured and all has been smooth so far. Signed up for the Home Depot card and they give you a $100 towards your first purchase. So far a good experience. Update, ordered carpet and had it installed. Carpet is great installation was totally unacceptable. Home Depot contracted this out to a company name Superior and yes the name is a joke. They butchered the seams and even cut the carpet incorrectly in a few places and it was short of the wall. They fixed this by jamming a loose piece of carpet into the hole. First time I vacuumed they all were sucked up leaving holes. Home Depot little help when I told them I would like a different installer to fix the issues stating that Superior is the authorized installer for them. Superior then said they need an Inspector to look at it. They looked at it and said the installation crew did a poor job. He said they would schedule a crew out to repair it in one to two weeks. Four weeks go by then five I call Superior who says the inspector never gave them the information and they would have to contact him. Three more days and we have the information and they schedule the repairs for a Friday afternoon. Friday have to take the afternoon off of work and they do not show up until after 5pm. Takes a look at it and says this will take 5 or 6 hours to fix. He tells me he will be back on Saturday. He shows up alone no crew and works on it for almost 7 hours and it did look better but still has two very poorly done seams and of course they are in the main room and the hallway where the most traffic is. I have now contacted Home Depot and feel the carpet was done so poorly the first time they were not able to fix it by repairs. I have asked that they areas be replaced but have not heard back from Home Depot in a week. I also asked for the email address of who selected Superior as the contractor because they should know the shoddy work they perform. If you need flooring and want it installed stay away...
