My stepdad had really good things to stay about Sax's, and my boyfriend loves getting breakfast on his days off, so we went here this morning. The food is good, the menu options are plenty, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I got chicken apple sausage and eggs while boyfriend got the Sax's special scramble. We both got country potatoes (NO GREEN ONIONS on mine please!) and their gigantic homemade biscuit. My plate came with two chicken apple sausages split down the middle, and two eggs I ordered over medium. It seems many restaurants have different ideas of country potatoes. These were sort of like slices that were a bit crunchy on the outside, pretty delicious. I will forever loathe green onions so if you do also, make sure you ask your server to leave them off. The sour cream on the potato was alright and allowed to stay. Their biscuit is enormous and neither of us finished more that a quarter of it. Maybe there would have been less wasted if either of us got something with gravy, but neither of us are breakfast gravy people. After boyfriend took a bite of the Sax's special, he remembered how much he dislikes ground beef as an ingredient in breakfast foods, so he wasn't as pleased with his meal as I was with mine. He got a coffee, and I got hot chocolate. When I watched our server pour chocolate milk into a mug and microwave it, I was a little put off, but then again, I don't know what hot chocolate standard is... It turned out pretty yummy and I was thankful it didn't burn my mouth. The amount of whipped cream was more than I've ever had before and the cherry on top, was, well, literally and figuratively the cherry on top. We'll definitely go here again so boyfriend can get something he'll like more, and maybe I can try something from the lunch side...

This place is truly a hidden gem—though judging by how busy it gets, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks so! I’ve visited numerous times, and I’m honestly surprised I haven’t written a review sooner. What first drew me in were the incredible cake photos I saw online—they looked almost too good to be true. But once I finally came in person, I realized this spot is about so much more than just cake.

The whole vibe of the place is beautiful and unique. Everything is pink—from the decor to the details—which gives it a fun, vibrant atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual meal or a special occasion. It’s the kind of place that’s totally Instagram-worthy but still manages to feel cozy and welcoming.

The staff is always super friendly and helpful, even when it’s packed (which it often is, because it’s that good). I’d recommend coming early, especially on weekends, because it does get busy. But trust me—it’s worth the wait.

This time, I ordered the peanut butter milkshake, which was $10—but totally worth it for the size alone. It’s huge—definitely shareable between two people—and the flavor was rich and delicious without being overly sweet. A real treat.

For my meal, I had the crabcakes Benedict, and it blew me away. There was actual crab in the crabcakes (not the imitation stuff), and the seasoning and texture were perfect. I also tried the mac & cheese, which was creamy and flavorful with a blend of different cheeses that made it stand out. Comfort food done right.

All in all, this is easily one of my favorite places in Petaluma. Whether you’re coming for dessert, brunch, or just a cool experience, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a place you’ll want to come back to...

Well - another one you have to wait to get in at. But - the wait is WORTH it. There's also coffee in the waiting area. Too bad there's no Hot Cocoa in the area. ;-) .. so .. now on to the food. Oh man - it's good. But - along with the good comes the bad. Oh wait - the ONLY bad is the fact that they bring you WAY MORE than you could possibly eat. This time? I had the Chicken Fried Steak with eggs, potatoes and the whole bit. Milk - and - I didn't get ripped off on the milk - at most places - you'd think milk was so rare it had to be expensive. My lovely wife had the eggs Benedict . She ordered it with the yolks runny - got 'em NOT runny - but - that was fixed RIGHT AWAY. Great service! Great food! Easy to find, easy in, easy out - not that you'll want to leave too soon. I saw someone with the burger - which I thought about - and I'm going back for that!!! I'll never be able to get it in my mouth - and - I'll never be able to get the whole thing down to my stomach, so, I'll see if I can split it with my lovely wife. The fries looked GREAT, too. The decor? I love it. It's a JOINT - so - it's made up to look like a JOINT - steppin' back in time. Try it - if ya don't love it...

My son and I visited Sax's joint for the first time today, a rainy Saturday morning. We sat at the counter, which allowed us to witness all of the delicious-looking food being passed from the cooks to the waitstaff. It all looked amazing. My son had the kid's pancake meal, which was a giant pancake, an egg, and his choice of bacon or sausage. It was only $5, which was such a relief. So many places charge more for their kids meals, and then they aren't even that good or filling. Not the case at Sax's Joint. We brought home half of his pancake, it was so big. I got the Country Benedict, which is like eggs Benedict but with scrambled eggs, sausage, and gravy, atop a bed of biscuits. It, and the potatoes that came on the side, was fantastic. I was only able to eat half, so I'm looking forward to finishing it off later today. The staff were all very friendly, and chatted to us when they were nearby. Tuesday was our server, and she was great. My son was thrilled that he was given a set of markers to color with instead of the ratty, broken crayons you get at other places. We will definitely be return customers!

My friend and I took a weekend coast day trip and decided to eat at a diner for lunch. I saw this place had exceptional reviews so we headed on oved to Petaluma. We came 15 minutes to closing because I forgot to look at the closing time for the place ahead of time, but the employees didn't chase us away or make sour faces and let us order. Let me tell you, this was the best diner I've ever eaten at. My friend even said this place has to be in the top 3 places he's eaten at in the 20 years of his life; I agree. The food was the very definition of fresh and tasty. Even though we came in so late, I felt love in the dish prepared for me. I'm pretty sure everything on the menu is heavenly. I personally got bacon and eggs with hashbrowns (sooooo good) but my friend said the chicken fried steak was outstanding as well. The price for the food was also very reasonable for the quality of it. If you think about it, it'll cost the same to eat af McDonald's these days for something that can't even be compared to this. I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm near Petaluma.
