COVID-19 Update: The food is still incredible here and now they have soft-serve available for take-out at the restaurant by the pint! Take advantage of being forced to do take-out and get Ssam, lettuce leaves for wraps and a spicy paste to go on your lettuce, to go with one of your entrees and practice your skills without the risk of public embarrassment. Then, when we can all go out to eat again we can show off our impressive chops at creating delicious little bites of amazingness! If Ssam is an unfamiliar concept check out videos from Serious Eats and Eater for some instruction on eating Korean BBQ with Ssam! The food here is AMAZING! I've tried most of the menu and can say unequivocally that it is all delicious. The spicy dishes are SPICY, so those with a low threshold should take note. Try some cold soups or noodles on a hot day, be a little adventurous: You will not be disappointed! The proprietor is one of the nicest, most welcoming, restaurateurs you will meet and if you go in for take-out you might get treated to some K-Pop on the stereo in the restaurant. Kicking myself for not eating here sooner. Make sure to get the side...

My wife and I have been to Soban in Petaluma about 7 times since it opened up a little over a month ago, and every time it's been fantastic! Originally we are from Southern CA — and having sought out some of the best Korean restaurants between San Diego and LA, and having lived in/traveled South Korea for several months, I have some pretty high expectations for good Korean food, and Soban is among the best Korean restaurants I've tried. Having said that, in regards to traditional Korean food in the Bay Area, it's second to none.

Additionally, it's pretty cool that Soban is family-owned and operated — run by a husband and wife team who are some of the kindest and sincere people we've ever met. Also, as a self-defined beer connoisseur, they have a surprisingly awesome selection of craft beer; even some from San Diego, which I loved. Anyway, I highly recommend trying Soban Korean Cuisine, whether you're craving Korean food or you just need a...

Personally I wouldn't recommend the double fried chicken It didn't taste right It was so dry it started cutting the back of my throat and when I asked the waiter if this was normal all they said was there should be sauce on the bottom and walked away before I could request extra sauce. He was incredibly rude dismissive the entire visit. I never did finish my meal and as leftovers they only got worse. Some of the other items we got were fine. But with the increase in price clearly shown on the menu drawn over with sharpie I expect quality. This was not that was it merely a bad day for the chefs I don't know but with how bad that chicken was I won't be having anyone in my life or myself waste money on that, chicken should never be that dry. In a good waiter would check on their guest asking how everything was if there was a problem and what they could do to make it better. Not making them so uncomfortable that...

I have gotten takeaway a few times and finally had the opportunity to dine in at Soban. I appreciate this is one of the few authentic Korean restaurants in the North Bay. Sadly a lot of the dishes were lacking. Banchan: Good selection, their kimchi was more mature and sou. I don’t love that they charge for refills. Gimmari: was one of the best things we ate at Soban. Crispy on the outside and the noodles on the inside were perfect. Soban Chicken: This was the most disappointing Korean fried chicken I have had in a long time. It was dry and lacked flavor. Pan Fried Mackerel: This was okay. Slightly overcooked but my toddler and I enjoyed it. Kimchi Bibim Guksoo: The noodles were good but the Kimchi again was on the more mature side which made the noodles overly sour. I would still come back to Soban given it is one of the few options for authentic Korean food in the North Bay.

When in Evanston, this is my go-to spot for spicy tofu soup and a seafood pancake. Delicious and authentic Korean comfort food served in a relaxed, mom and pop shop. I’ve been several times and have consistently been impressed with the quality and quantity of food and the friendly service. The seafood pancake is thick and crispy and comes with a yummy dipping sauce. The spicy tofu soup comes piping hot, both in temperature and spice (enough to clear your sinuses), and is served with a hefty side of rice. All entrees are served with multiple delicious side dishes which they rotate, so there’s usually something new to try. Their hot soups are perfect for a cold winter day, and the naengmyeon (cold noodle) and bibimbap are delicious as well.

I came here to eat because of the high reviews, but after entering, I had to wait at the door for an incredibly long time, the longest wait I've ever had at a restaurant. The female receptionist chatted nonstop with a fellow Korean customer without even glancing at the door. The male waiter, after confirming we were a couple, kept serving other customers instead of inviting us to sit. There were only three tables occupied at the time; the other four were empty. It took a while for us to sit down after we inquired again. After we ordered, we didn't get water or banchan until we repeatedly asked for it. The banchan was the size shown in the picture, while other tables received six slightly larger bowls. Was I being targeted?
