Circles Thai South Philly — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I went to this place the other night with my friend for her birthday. She absolutely adores Thai food and heard about this restaurant from a friend. We were able to walk right in without a reservation and get a seat by the wall. It wasn't that busy when we first got there but it picked up near the middle of our dinner. The atmosphere was great, we loved the art all over the room and the setting for the table was very nice.

Our server was Josh (Hey Josh, you rock!) and he was incredibly helpful. He recommended the Pumpkin Curry for my friend (who's vegan/gluten free) and the Southern Islam Massaman Curry for me. They were both absolutely delectable and I hate tofu stuff. He was spot on. I also had the Chicken Satay for an appetizer and it was really good, only I wish their was more peanut sauce.

I talked to Josh while my friend was out of the room about bringing a mango sorbet after dinner and he lived up to it. She was really surprised and this place is just amazing. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.

As this is only my first time here, I'm only reviewing on this single time. I will be going back, hopefully with my daughter, and I expect the same excellent service and food. Check...

I don’t ever review anything and I really hate negative reviews in general but I feel the need to say something here. I ordered takeout in the store and the cashier was distracted the entire time taking my order. I ordered pad kra pao with beef. She repeated back to me twice “pad kee mao” and I said no, pad kra pao both times. Then after a second just to make sure, said “with beef” just to make sure.

I got home and there was no beef in it. Not a big deal, I figured I would just go back and they’d add it but they made me pay for it. This time there was a different cashier and she told me “we made it correctly,” which is technically true? but I did not get what I ordered. She also asked if the other cashier repeated my order back to me (she did not). I understand it’s an additional charge that I was happy to pay for had I been charged for it the first time, but I ordered it with beef, and they charged me for the wrong thing. That’s not my mistake and I feel the better choice would’ve been to accept the mistake and not charge me the additional $4. It isn’t about the money, it’s about the principle.

The food was great, and I love this restaurant and never have a problem. I don’t understand why that...

Sunday night munchies hit us, my partner and I were in the mood for Pad Thai. We scrolled through Doordash and saw this one boasting 1600+ reviews and a 4 star rating-- so we decided to go safe and choose this restaurant. Not long after placing our order, we realized that we forgot to ask for utensils (I am in the middle of moving- so I had none). So I called the place up only to be told that the order has already been picked up and on its way to us. To our pleasant surprise, they not only included plastic forks but also napkins and chopsticks! Food was plentiful. We ordered two appetizers, Summer Rolls and Fried Calamari, two entrees, Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mow, and two cans of la Croix. The taste is nothing to write home about, very typical. Although the Summer Rolls came in three, I guess we forgot to select a protein so it tasted bland and monotone with the salty peanut sauce.
