I'm in the middle. The smiling energetic faces that are fooling you are staff members, my latest victims. The guy in the back of the photo, is Alejandro who waited on me last May when I visited from Boston. At that particular lunch there was not an empty seat and a server called off leaving only Alejandro and some woman who has since left to go on to darker pastures. They worked effortlessly. Grace (not the server Gracie) under pressure. Last week I was in Fort Lauderdale and headed to Con Murphy my favorite restaurant. I was greeted by Kayla who possesses a unique gift in her personality of being sassy and charming at the same time. I told her I recognized her when I purchased a gift card and she had no earthly clue how to ring it up. I said, "well you're going to learn." She remembered me. LOL. I'm not sure what my favorite memory is here. It may have been with Adrian. I was craving chocolate. I could practically taste the lava cake as it was being prepared in the kitchen. I thought the sun would come up before I was ever going to see that cake. Adrian informed me with great trepidation that the lava had been 86'd. I had a reaction. I teased him, a fabulous professional. Once I was having eggs benedict for breakfast and Faith came to my table and asked me to move because a large party was coming in. I shot her a look as my utensils and I hesitantly traveled 20 feet ending up in a corner where I had claustrophobia served with home fries. The large party never came. It dwindled in size. I thought about dwindling Faith's gratuity. Manager Demetrius once practically ran an obstacle course through the entire restaurant to present my blonde brownie with whipped cream as the cream was definitely experiencing climate warming dripping onto my sandals. Excellent but it did not quench the chocolate craving. Then there is Alex, a bartender who supplied the greatest laugh. One night I was having the barbecue wings that serve up the best barbecue sauce in all of Florida as far as I'm concerned (although I've never been to Tallahassee so I may be jumping the gun). Bree was serving me and could not have been more pleasant with great recommendations anticipating everything I needed. However my fingers were drenched in sauce and I went through so many napkins that the only thing left was the ocean across the street. A man sitting at a table behind me began a conversation with me informing me he was from New York. I told him I was from Boston and he had no idea where Boston is. Alex from behind the bar heard this conversation and she roared, "talk about denial New York, good God." Alex became my hero at that moment. I had not seen Alejandro all week however low and behold he showed up. Everything now will go right. But God had other plans. I was doing a talk to text with the microphone open. When Alejandro came to my table telling me the food would be out soon, (I had completely forgotten what I ordered at this point) we had a conversation involving his goals. The conversation lasted approximately 7 to 8 minutes. When he walked to go back to the kitchen to do God only knows what, I picked up my phone and saw that I had dictated the entire conversation. Everything from becoming an EMT to Adrian's missing lava cake, and the claustrophobic seating from Faith. LOL. I hope anyone who reads this review will easily surmise that they will make you feel like family here. This is not simply a job for these people. It is a passion with the highest value in customer relations. They truly care that you have a good experience and when they wish you to return, they really mean it. I thank Kayla, Faith, Bree, Alex, Alejandro, Gracie, Julie the general manager, Joelle, Adrian, Demetrius for whom I wish an extended happy birthday, and every employee in the back of the house of whom I did not have the pleasure to meet. You all mean the world to me and I think you know that. I have been living with brian cancer and you guys have impacted me with joy beyond measure making some of my difficulty less burdensome. I'm...
Read moreI ordered takeout from my hotel room, I ordered the lamb shepherds pie and bread pudding. I spent $30 on my food and although the food was tasty there was barely any meat or vegetables in my shepherds pie ( I think I counted maybe three chunks of lamb and two carrots and a tiny spoon full of peas followed by a huge glob of mashed potatoes) so I feel like I paid $20 for mashed potatoes and gravy because that’s pretty much what my dish. No big deal that can be fixed so I called to explain this to my server immediately (since I had room service in room 1103 at the Windsor hotel) and was told that the server would have the manager call me back and I never heard back from anyone. At this point it is well after 8 PM and I am just ready to eat and go to bed since I have been traveling since 5 AM. I was appalled that the server said that the manager would call me back instead of putting me on hold and even more appalled when no one returned my phone call, all I was asking was for an extra scoop of food so I felt like I had more than mashed potatoes and gravy on my plate. I’m disappointed because I ordered from this place because of the reviews, that is how I choose the restaurants that I eat at, and this place was not up to par on their portions and pricing. I even asked Hannah, the person on the phone, What the portion sizes were for the shepherds pie and I could not get an answer. I work in an Irish pub, I love shepherds pie, so I understand when something isn’t scooped properly or the right amount of protein and veggies does not go into a soup or entrée so when a guest complains you make it right by giving them the proper amount not...
Read moreA friend and I went to this pub at 11pm ( only african Americans in the establishment )the Service was OK but I am not pleased with the drinks and the food was ehh! Our margarita’s were very sour and my friend who’s been bartending for over 10 years agreed the drinks were not good. I informed the server of our issue and asked for a shot instead she spoke to the manager in which didn’t come over herself to apologize or anything told the server that I can get a shot but I would have to pay. I was dumbfounded, money was not the issue, TRUST ME, but the fact that she said that was crazy. Our food came and it was something I make at home. I asked for the manager, she came and she offered to take the drink off and give me the shots instead after I spoke to her and she realized I wasn’t some gangster despite we were dressed. And I declined her taking the drinks off to prove a point, in which I wasn’t expecting her to actually charge me for the shots and margaritas but it was ok because money wasn’t an issue. Not to mention the manager possibly taking about us to the bartender because the bartender kept looking over. I felt like I was racially profiled and I will never return again! Lastly I would’ve tipped the server but she never came back over after we spoke to the manager. The photos added were seconds before we left. And for the owner to say I was disrespectful if crazy i guess they are upset I stole there pen for the bad service but it’s ok I would not go back to this hole in a wall. Now just for there response I will be staying at the Windsor...
