I celebrated my birthday with a couples’ spa day at the Four Seasons with a massage and facial for me and my husband, so it was a 5 hour experience for us. As expected, the service and atmosphere was phenomenal. Beautiful views of the city skyline if you go on a day with clear skies. We went on a rainy day so it was pretty much a window of white when we first arrived but luckily it cleared up later on so we were able to see the city for miles and miles with a view from the 57th floor. The lounge and changing rooms were clean and well stocked with anything you might need.
Service was impeccable - there were attendants at your beck and call almost everywhere. The staff for our facial and massage were extremely nice and did an amazing job and of course, there were wonderful views of the city in every treatment room. I really appreciated that they actually read the questionnaire we filled out prior to the visit so they were aware of my allergies and preferences.
There were just a few things that I wished were different to make this a true 5 star experience.
There needs to be additional seating areas. During Saturday mid-afternoon, which appeared to be a busier time, while I was getting ready to shower, there were two women the changing room who I overheard stating they felt awkward and didn’t know where to go since there were no seats in the lounge available so they just stayed in the changing room. I can see that being possible since, while I was waiting between treatments in the lounge, it did get full a few times but people come and go within 10 mins or so and as they leave for their treatments, seats do open up then.
Lockers need to be bigger or hooks need to be placed outside sauna/steam rooms. I went in the winter so I had a coat in the locker, which pretty much took up most of the space. There was no where to put my robe when I went in the sauna so I left it on the bench in the changing area but when I returned, my robe was no longer there. I had a few items in my robe pocket so I assumed the staff would know it was still in use. Luckily none of the items were irreplaceable so I didn’t even bother trying to retrieve it. I did have to wait for a staff member to show up in the changing room to get another robe. This happened to someone else also as I was getting dressed to leave as she was asking the staff where her robe was (I witnessed a lot since I was at the spa for such a long time). She also left her robe on the changing bench when she showered (although there is a hook in the shower area for your robe) and when she returned, her robe was gone too.
My husband found a piece of hair on his robe when he first put it on. He is not the type to say anything to staff for something like this but he told me afterwards so that was a bit unfortunate to an otherwise wonderful experience. Will definitely return for...
So sad that I am even writing this but I am still so upset at the way the assistant manager treated us. We came for a nice relaxing spa day and everything was amazing up until the last 10 minutes. We all booked massages and our massages were spaced out pretty far apart but because they told us we were aloud to “enjoy” the amenities we thought no problem. Completely wrong my mother was told she wasn’t aloud to wait in the relaxation room… okay no biggy we understand other people need the space. My sister and I actually thought she was over reacting at first. When we were in the locker room area I felt like we were taking up to much space waiting so we got dressed and decided to wait by the pool we were told we were aloud to sit there earlier. Then suddenly this women yelled you can’t have glass in here! And you’re not aloud to sit here blah blah just reciting what she had in her hand book I assume. My aunt literally just got out of her massage still in her robe waiting for her champagne with nowhere to go. Couldn’t go relax in the relaxation room it was to busy. She felt so uncomfortable she just got dressed as soon as she could. I asked to speak to the manager and of course it was the same women who told us to leave and she just kept deflecting what she said and did onto other staff members when in fact it wasn’t their fault in the least bit. It was the way she spoke to us. It was embarrassing and made us feel stupid. We had such a great day leading up to that I can’t believe I’m even still thinking about it right now. Four seasons motto is literally about hospitality. If we were told the rules prior we would have followed them. She really tried so hard to blame anyone but herself! No one should be taking the blame but her. But she was looking into who did this and who did that… they gave us 30% off but I still feel violated it wasn’t about the price at all… it was her attitude… the way she just stared and didn’t blink. I don’t know what else to say but then to just do better management stop blaming your staff! They are angels and they made us feel so welcomed so thank...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place because it is actually such a stunning environment. The views, the set up, the relaxation room, everything is immaculate. Unfortunately here is what happened. I called them to book a massage. I specifically asked if there were any female therapists available because I'm not comfortable with a male masseuse. They said they had a female available at 4:45 and I was thrilled so I booked it. Now I do not live close by - it's close to an hour ride for me to get here. So I show up and when the massage therapist comes out, it's a man. I didn't want to cause a scene, I politely asked him if he was sure he was my therapist because I thought I was assigned someone else. He said he was. I wanted to so badly to speak up for myself and probably should have but just couldn't bring myself to cause a scene. So I just got the massage. It wasn't a great massage. It was just.... okay. Lots of elbows. I asked him to focus on my shoulders and hands/wrists. He barely massaged my hands for 30 seconds each and didn't spend much time on my shoulders either. He stretched my neck awkwardly and it hurt. This place is wildly expensive so to give me a male when I specifically asked for a female and then for the massage to just be average was such a huge disappointment. When I went to check out I politely asked them what happened because I was told on the phone I was getting a female. The person at the front desk said "I dont' see any notes here indicating anything at all" charged me, and sent me on my way. LOL. Which pretty much means they bold faced lied to me on the phone. I'm sorry but to lie to someone who requests a female just to get business is actually despicable especially considering what you are paying. Shocking they do business so unethically....
