This very much reminds me of a place I would go to in Paris for brunch. Simple is more. The food was fantastic. We sampled many different things off the menu and everything was perfectly balanced and plated well. The small water glasses that also are used when ordering a cortado are very fitting for a place like this, yet they are so attentive that you lr water glass will never run dry. Anything that had a level of sweetness, such as brioche french toast, or mini pancakes, were not really sweet which is what you would normally get in America. The almond croissant is simply one of the best I've ever had. The decor is very modern and simple but yet attention to details such as the egg foam underneath the tables to absorb sound coming from the concrete floor. It's this attention to detail that you will find in the service and the food. I highly recommend this place. **UPDATE** We came back the next morning because we loved the food so much, and it's close to where we were staying. They open at 08:00, but it's only coffee and pastries until 09:00. So if you go for breakfast, you have to wait until 09:00. I wish this was posted somewhere.

Their quiches are amazing! I had the quiche Lorraine and it exceeded my expectations. It was crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, balanced flavor and all in all delicious! I would absolutely recommend this! I also tried the almond and chocolate croissant which I wasn't really impressed with, but it was good. I would expect more flakiness like a butter croissant but it was ok. The salad - I had the goat cheese and raw beet salad. Fresh and crispy however the dressing was overpowering citrus-y and ruined the experience for me. I should have tried it first before I dumped it all on the salad. So if you do get that salad, try the dressing first and then dress your salad accordingly. The service was good and friendly. My food was ready in a timely manner and I had it to go, which they had thoughtfully prepared in a bag with everything I needed - even an extra set of utensils (one for the salad and one for the quiche - thank you for that, Frieda!) I love the idea of bringing people together and gaining wisdom and experience from our elders. I loved everything about Frieda and will be back!

Frieda is a unique place which embraces the ideals of Philadelphia. I had a chance to chat briefly with both owners, Tom & Dave. Two amazing gentlemen with a soul and determination to make our city better. Well, they delivered and then some. I was there with Chef Gabriella to talk about new ventures, business, photography, catering, marketing, gratitude and Superheroes of Service. The food tastes incredible along with impressive presentation. The atmosphere is welcoming and decor is clean, fresh and inviting. The mission of Frieda is what sets them apart from all the places to be in the city. While speaking to Tom, he shared with me Frieda is not a restaurant. It is place people can come and they will not feel judged while enjoying exceptional food made with love. I have to say, they are on point. I thank Chef Gabriella and Shup for this amazing introduction. #toussaintphotography, #Styleographer, #SuperheroesOfService, #GratitudeIs

Surrounded by historic sites, attractions, and gardens, this cafe is the perfect spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. (By the way, you can get breakfast until 3:00 pm!!!)

The food is varied and tasty. You can get just a croissant and coffee or a full meal. Frieda offers everything from spectacular avocado toast with smoked salmon to omlets to quiche to sandwiches to salads and more. They also offer gluten-free bread. All the selections are terrific. While we ate at the cafe, we even got some goodies to go for later.

The interior space is bright and comfortable. There's a small shop carrying jams, assorted food items, and more. There are spaced tables for those wishing to eat indoors. For those preferring to eat outside, there are several sidewalk and street tables surrounded by nice plantings.

Frieda does not offer full table service. Instead, you go to the counter inside to place your order. When your food and beverages are ready, they bring it to your table. They also check back to make sure you have everything you need and to clear plates. (By the way, they use paper plates and wood utensils ... all compostible.) The service is friendly and helpful. The kitchen is surprisingly quick.

Parking can be tricky. While my wife and I walked there, a friend drove over. With no street parking available, she parked in the garage at 2nd & Sansom.

The prices are reasonable. Given the quantity and quality of the food, it's definitely...

I stopped in while in town for a conference and fell in love! I wish I was a local so I could visit more often. We ordered avocado toast, tuna salad on toast, and a quinoa bowl. All three were delicious, filling, and we felt great after eating so we could continue walking around. We also ordered two croissants to go—the almond chocolate croissant is possibly the best croissant I have ever had in my life and that was after sitting in my hotel room overnight. One of the employees brought us over two additional pastries, on the house, when we finished eating and chatted with us for a few minutes. The entire staff was just so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Before we left, I took a look at the website and read about Frieda’s mission. What a beautiful concept! I work for a community revitalization organization that works with vulnerable seniors and so many of the people we serve are in need of income and community. I know how much they would love to be a part of something like Frieda! On the way out, I stopped to look at the items they had for sale and purchased the strawberry mint jam, peach chai jam, and lemon curd. Holy cow—SO good! Additionally I got a beautiful pair of earrings that I immediately put on. I just cannot say enough great things about this place....
