On our 11th date, my sweetheart and I stopped at Goldies to grab a quick meal before going to hear a jazz jam at the Barnes Foundation. Being new to Philly, my sweetheart had not yet had a chance to try Goldies. In an effort to eat healthy, he makes plenty of his own hummus. It's a heroic effort, but I had to show him the humus by which I compare all other humus -- Goldie's. He didn't disagree with me that Goldie's has a uniquely velvety texture and taste. He also approved of the falafel and was tickled that he could get an interesting beer. True to fashion, he felt we needed desert and came back with an array of baked goods from the market. I chose to buy half a dozen extra pitas from Goldies. I like to cut them in half and freeze them. That actually get better after going from freezer to toaster and then lathering all of the little nooks and crannies with butter.
The concert was disappointing. The ticket information from Barnes was confusing and we arrived well into the program when the band was finishing its wild exuberant finale. I know the band to be good, but the acoustics of the hall did the music no favors. My sweetheart was a good...

I've been to the Center City location and was on this side of town so it's access on the second floor of Whole Foods was clutch. The menu is basically the same as the original location - simple and completely vegan.
It was a busy afternoon so there was a bit of a line before I could place my order. The process is fairly simple, and once order is in place, you wait for the attendants to call your name for pick up or eat in.
I ordered the combo - Turkish shake, falafel salad, and shawarma fries - all for $15 - not a bad deal!
I found the salad fresh and fulfilling. The lemon dressing adds the right amount of acid to the greens and falafel. The Turkish shake, as always, was solid - so good (even if not exactly good for you haha), and the fries were fresh from the fryer seasoned just right with the shawarma spice!
Overall - great experience and glad I was able to make it to this location and to learn it keeps to the reputation of the original location. Will...
Read moreThis is a solid outpost of the Center City spot known for tehina (dairy free) shakes, falafel, and shawarma spiced fries. They’re situated by the registers in Whole Foods along with a few other Philly based stands and a tight seating area. The menu and quality definitely measure up to Goldie reputation.
Everything they offer is vegan...from the creamy tehina shakes to the flavorful, fluffy falafel. You can get that falafel packed into a dizengoff pita, served as a salad, or solo (bag of balls). They also offer crispy fries, with or without a unique blend of spice, and a few creative soft drinks.
Service on point during our visit as they forgot my name and the shug in my sandwich. That said, everything tasted great. Highly recommended for casual lunch or those who just don’t feel like cooking all the groceries they...
