We've read about Vetri restaurant and what an amazing Italian cuisine it represents. After reading reviews on yelp about Vetri's "family" pizza place we couldn't believe some few negative reviews among the " lava" of the raving ones about this place and strongly and excitingly directed our feet towards the pizzeria door. Well, let's say we were punished well enough for "not believing". From the first step in at 11am sharp according to our phone clock (when we asked if they are open the answer was in such a manner as they were doing us a favor opening their doors right on time, and we'll have to wait another 5 mins they said until they will be "really" ready) to the last step out of the door our visit was nothing but a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. a) Food (Rotolo, Roasted vegetables salad and we meant to order some of their desserts, but after tasting the food discarded this idea immediately) was absolutely tasteless, oily and in point of the dough was the worst we've ever had. I am not even mentioning the size of the portions in relation to the price. Just let you guess ; ). b)Service: ignorant, rude, slow and not decent (the waitress was trying we believe intentionally put an extra item we didn't order in our bill). c) ambiance was very uncomfortable with grey gloomy colors, metal hard chairs and all together "industrial" look that screams in your face: "eat your Pizza and GO". Nope, this is not a place to linger with your friends and enjoy the conversation. Laud unpleasant music would not allow it as correctly somebody mentioned in one of the reviews. But we were "Unbelievers" so we are punished enough. Do yourself a favor and BELIEVE in ALL the negative reviews about this place and find something better for your cravings of GOOD ITALIAN PIZZA. Good luck, and if you said thank you for a good advice we'd answer -...
Read moreI was planning on taking my mom to a different place, but it was closed, and we ended up coming to Vetri for the first time. I’ve never been happier to find a closed restaurant and have to travel on crutches for a meal. As you walk in, there is cheerful and welcoming staff as you see the wood-burning pizza oven front and center!! As the Chefs clean their choice of cooking weapons, an eloquent glass bottle of water arrives at the table. Impressed with the quant yet unique menu, I asked Teya, our server, for a pizza recommendation which was the pepperoni (with specialized seasons), and as I asked for an extra to advice, she jumped to say sausage, and my mother ordered the mushroom pizza. The atmosphere was great, it was like the wonderful Italian lady with scarf perfectly whipped around her neck reading her book at the neighboring table was straight from the home country! The food came in splendid time with just the perfect amount of thin bread, oils, seasoning and cutely diced little round pepperoni (the OG stuff) and sausage, not to sausy not to agee. As we sat and I took my time devouring one of the best personal 8 slice pizza’s (it’s really a 2 person pizza but let’s keep that hush hush for my waistlines emotional sake 😂) I may have ever had. Needless to say Teya’s recommendation paid off in full. No really full stop I need a Power Nap. Oh and as we were finishing up a princess and her fatherly knight showed up. No seriously, she was dressed like a princess. A great way to finish this Narnia like hideaway of old fashion wood stove, and wonderful staff that creat magical pizza so magical even...
Read moreThis is my new favorite pizza place in Philly! I have never had Pizzeria Vetri (they have 3 locations) but this place blew me away!! It's a nice little pizza shop in Fairmount area. They have seating inside and some seating outside too which was nice!
My friend and I got the Truffle Asparagus, Arugula salad, and the Shroom pizza. The truffle asparagus was a great choice for us! We wanted apps that were a little healthier since we were eating pizza and don't want our meals to be so heavy. It has some truffle pecorino fonduta (basically cheese with truffle?) and lemon parsley gremolata. It was cooked to perfection and the truffle fonduta went super well with the asparagus. Ugh so delicious ! The arugula salad was also so good! It had potatoes, parmigiana, basil pesto (yum!), and olives in it. It tasted so fresh and so clean!! I wish my salads at home could be this good The Shroom pizza - I still dream about this pizza. It was the best mushroom pizza I've ever had. It was creamy, thin, mushroomy, so so good!! It also comes with black garlic aioli on top which just complemented the cheese and mushrooms so well!
The staff there is great! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their drink. I got their sangria which tasted watered down and a little vinegary. I'll have to try a different drink next time. My friend got a rosemary lemonade but because they were running out of lemonade, it turned out super watered down. They didn't charge us for it because they ran out and still let us have the drink. All in all though, the food was amazing and staff...
