I have ordered two times from Buena Onda during the quarantine. The first time they left two tacos out of my order and charged me for it. Uber Eats credited my account. The second time I ordered through Cavier. I ordered the food at 8:25pm on a Friday. I got a call from Buena Onda at 9:10pm saying that my food was never picked up and that it's been sitting there for 40 mins. They said they tried to call the Cavier Courier but no one picked up. One of the workers said "I don't know what to tell you. It's been sitting here. You should come and pick it up". Meanwhile I was getting status updates all along saying my food was on the way. I also got an email saying my food was delivered. I told the person at Buena Onda I didn't have a car hence why I chose and paid for delivery. In addition, why would I pay an additional $20 for an Uber to get food that's been sitting there for 40 mins. She then handed me over to the Manager who said that it wasn't their problem. All they do is make the food. He suggested that I take it up with Cavier since I pre-paid for the food and delivery. No one from Buena Onda ever called me during the 40 minutes the food sat there. They waited until they were already closed to inform me. .terrible customer service especially...
Read moreMy realtor turned me on to this place in 2022 and I’ve been going since. A few weeks ago. We ate here and ordered a few tacos and two margaritas. We got the food, but our drinks never came out. We were done eating and ready to go. The manager gave us the margaritas and refunded the cost of $17.00. He gave me a receipt showing a “void” for the drinks not a refund. Notice on the voids receipt ( picture below) It doesn’t state how the $17 was refunded. A refund receipt usually show the card name and the last four digits on the credit card being credited.
I wasn’t given cash. I checked my American Express statement and the $17 was never refunded to my account. Makes me wonder if he gave me the void receipt and took the money in cash. Whatever happened it’s unfortunate, because I thought this was a cool spot. I don’t spend my money or use my CC at businesses with fraudulent employees. Be careful using your cards here. Especially, if they need to give you a refund. Keep your receipt until the refund clears and make sure you’re getting a refund receipt and not a void receipt. I didn’t notice I had a void receipt until the credit never showed up on my card statement and I went back to look at...
Read moreCafeteria style ordering at counter. Advertised as a Mexican fish taco joint on the outdoor signage, but they have more - at nearly closing time I stopped in with zero expectations, needing only a 20g carb bite for my BG, but once I got inside it was so welcoming I also ordered a Yards Brawler draft, to accompany my two pulled pork tacos @$3 each. Very satisfying! and plentiful in the soft corn tortillas, well seasoned meat topped with a perfect amount of finely julienned radish & greens, all nicely warm.
Tiny (20? seats - serves heavy carryout demand, too, I'll bet). Funky Latin atmosphere, with a not-too-loud soundtrack of mid-fifties ritmo bands doing everything from corrido, Norteño, to Lieber & Stoller hits that you'll recognize! Fun! Great staff at the counter, cash checkout, serving & cleaning up. Oh, did I not mention that they let all of us late-arriving slow-eaters to casually finish our food & drink — no hint of hustling us out.
NB I was there on April 8, 2015.The place was open for just 3 weeks, and seats were more than half occupied already, even at that late hour for dinners. It is the first effort at a taco shop by one of Philly's local restauranteurs, José...
