Great time! Came here with a party of 5 on a Tuesday evening. Attentive service! We were a bit self absorbed as cousins catching up after many years, didn't notice too much about the atmosphere. You fill out a paper with all of the food you want, or you can tell the waiter what you'd like.
Nothing was oily, everything was easy to keep eating due to it being vegan. Nothing was spicy but everything was seasoned well. Ordered a LOT of food but here's what I loved the most and would recommend:
From the Dim Sum Appetizers:
D1 Vegetarian Meat Shumai, D32 Steamed Taro, D34 Steamed Vegetable, and Fried Vegetarian Scallops were the table favorites. Except for the shumai, everything came with various mild garlic sauces.
Most of the dumplings we ordered were similar in flavor and texture, the main difference came in presentation. Veg Soup Dumplings didn't have much broth.
From the Chef Specialties
02 Roasted Veg Duck Peking Style - served separately on the same plate as bao, thinly sliced cucumbers and green scallions, Peking sauce and a vegan duck. Delicious, perfect aroma and texture replica. 5/5
20 Veg Prawn with Walnut - perfect imitation fried shrimp served separately on the same plate with the white sauce, honeydew, roasted walnuts, and cucumber. 4/5
18 Tofu Skin Braised with Two Kinds Mushroom - if you like beancurd skin, this is very tasty and perfectly prepared. Button and shitake mushrooms. 5/5
The place doesn't make you feel like you're missing meat, even for our two meat enthusiast party members. This is how you make great vegan food. I'm...
Read moreI love the food here so much! I became a vegetarian during the pandemic because I realized how much environmental damage the meat industry causes and how they have no repercussions for any of the harm they cause. At first, it was hard! There’s few vegetarian restaurants out there, and those that have vegetarian options are normally not that good. Let’s face it. Most veggie-style versions of food aren’t as tasty when you’ve eaten meat your whole life. But let me tell you, this place breaks that stereotype. It was hard learning to cook again since I’ve mostly known how to prepare different meat-based dishes my entire life. (With few exceptions) But this place was truly inspiring in that way. I learned that anything you could want could be made without the use of animal products. It’s life-changing to taste the possibilities that well-seasoned and prepared food can bring. I have taken my family, friends, and coworkers here since 2020, and I will never not love this place. It even holds a special place in my heart for another reason. My husband and I ordered our wedding feast from them and it just added to the magic of that...
Read moreI. LOVE. UNIT. SU. VEGE! It's simply delicious-- or perhaps not "simply" because the flavors are developed and showcase both traditional and new chinese american techniques. There's so much variety across the menu and in each dish itself, it never leaves me missing animal proteins. Seriously, you need to try it! Take out is always tasty, but in the true style of dim sum: it is best eaten family-style and surrounded by friends!
My roommate and I go often. They're vegetarian and I'm omni but we both often find ourselves craving USV and happpily go to order our favorites and share something new off the menu. Their meals go beyond "here's some raw tofu in sauce instead of other meats" and actually treats things like mushrooms, seitan, common/uncommon chinese vegetables, and tofu like the STAR of a meal!
Interior is unassuming, well-lit, and comfortable. Staff are always welcoming and we're never left waiting long for our food. Their take out is also a great option if you're on the go! You see lots of different people dining here it's nice to see the neighborhood and beyond...
