Hi Alex! I am not sure if you remembers me, but I am a student who got harrassed by you last time. He is a manager at this cafe and I realized I need to write this review for my friends who love to come to gfg for coffee and food. Few months ago, I went to cafe to pick up a bowl and coffee. Alex got an order of bowl and started pointing out I am not making a right order. Such as, since I did not say ‘zucchinis’ but said ‘zucchini’ and he said he will only give me one zucchini. At first I thought he was joking around because I have been to this cafe so many times and he was friendly to customers all time.
I was trying to oversee the situation and move on, but he continued his rude tone, boarderline of yelling, while making my bowl. He took incredibly long time to make my order because he harrassed me for fun (and mine was just a regular bowl…. Nothing crazy and no restriction). I did not want to reciprocate his attitude or made a big deal, so I did not say anything back. HOWEVER, I made a coffee order at the counter to another employee while paying for my bowl, Alex followed me to the counter and harrassed me by asking all sorts of weird questions about coffee order. Then he burst out laughing next to the employee taking my order. When he handed me a coffee, he gave me a sample of dessert, apologized about his action and he said he did it because he was ‘tired’. If I was rude or disrespectful to him, I would understand. All I did was ordering their food. I could not help but thinking he was harrassing me because he thought he could do it to me.
Well I am not saying it is a racism or just his personality, but I just want to warn some people who consider going here, to be careful. Anytime my friends said they were going to gfg, I found myself bringing up this story and asked them to be cautious. I loved thier food and drinks over three years but now I can’t come back here because I feel very uncomfortable seeing him and possibly experiencing it again. I hope this story...
Read moreI just started coming / ordering takeout from Greek from Greece and I really love it and get the greek toast almost every day now. The staff is usually really friendly and nice and Felix I believe his name is, is always super friendly and helpful. I waited until the following day and same order to leave a review to see if my negative experience from yesterday would be the same and it wasn't. Yesterday I ordered a latte with the same greek toast and there was no button on uber eats for a vanilla iced latte so I added it into the note. I would have been happy to pay in store the difference as I know it would be an extra charge. The employee very rudely asked me if I was the uber eats order with the sneaky extras in the comments so I didnt have to pay. Extremely rude to assume I was doing that to save some money. When I said it was my first time ordering out from GFG on uber eats and there wasn't a button he said "theres always a button." okay. There was just no being right to this guy so I just took my order and left. The toast was packaged in a styrofoam container and I did not get a bag. Today, packaged by Felix, it was in a Box container, with utensils and straw in the bag, and in a GFG bag with the drink covered with a sticker. The inconsistency is awful and as a new customer that was a very unpleasant experience but Im glad it was just that one time and now I know for the future to order in store or avoid ordering anything...
Read moreI can't wait to eat here 10 more times. The Spanikopita was fantastic. My wife gets a fancy iced latte every time we come here. This time was a lavender latte, which was really nicely balanced.
Update 10-2-23: these cookies were so amazing. I'm not sure what the round one is called but it seemed to have flavors of cinnamon and walnut. Maybe some brown sugar. Definitely honey. The other ones are Melomakarona. Honey, walnut, slight orange. To me it tasted like the top of a coffee cake. So good.
Update 2-5-24: today I went in and ordered the spanakopita and also Demetrius recommended this pastry. I don't remember what it was called. I think it started with a b. But it was layers of phyllo dough with chocolate and nutella between the layers. He said he just got some fresh out of the oven. He didn't have to convince me any more than that. And it was.... amazing. I also appreciate it that he cut it into little pieces because he saw that I was in there with two friends. I also love getting the baklava latte. It is so...
