I've been here a half-dozen times maybe, over several years. I will not ever be going back since the wait times have become utterly ridiculous and it was never that great to begin with. The service has never been amazing nor do they seem thrilled to see a paying customer arrive, but the haircuts have been fine and the price is good. The last two times I attempted to get a haircut, however, have been lousy; both times I really needed a haircut, I was willing to wait, but the wait expanded to the point of being ridiculous and I had to give up. The second to last time, I tried to check in online and it simply said it wasn't available--odd--so I went down in person and checked in. They said maybe an hour wait, fair enough, I got my name in line and left to do some errands, and came back an hour later. At that point, one of the two stylists there just left, leaving the reaming guy there by himself to handle the 5 people left. It was maybe 5:00 at that point, not near closing time and they open open at 11, why did she leave?? I was told then that it would be another 30 minutes maybe, at which point I had to give up and go home because I didn't have another hour to spend. Then I tried again yesterday, this time I was able to check in online. The first available spot wasn't for a few hours, so I checked in for 1:40, and I arrived at 1:40. On arrival I was told it would be a 30-40 minute wait, which I didn't have since it was a workday. It seems my online check-in meant next to nothing, as it has in past visits when I pre-check-in: there's always a wait. I was hopeful initially since there were 4 stylists in that day, till I realized that only 1 was cutting customers' hair; two were in a training on mannequins and the last was just instructing them, not cutting hair as far as I could tell, despite the waiting area being full. Ridiculous time to be training people when there was such a long line. The bottom line is, this location is understaffed and poorly run such that they never keep to a schedule and the wait times are horrible. If you have little money and lots of free time, it's fine. I will be paying more to go to another barber where they meet me on time for my appointments and give better cuts. Some other quick thoughts: I've had far better experiences at other SuperCuts locations, it's just this particular one that is poorly staffed. Secondly, the stylists themselves can be very pleasant, it's not their fault their booking system is lousy and that the manager doesn't staff more stylists, but their broken system does tend to make a bad experience for...
Read moreThis place is a hit or miss if you pick the next available stylist. Book your favorite one and you'll be OK. I left happy after my first two visits (too bad I don't know the names of the staff but both were ladies), they cut my hair based on my vague descriptions and it still looked nice, but today a guy gave me a horrible haircut despite the fact that I showed him photos of the hairstyle I got there a few months back, from the front and side. I wouldn't even call it a haircut, he randomly cut here and there, almost sheared my hair and I couldn't believe my eyes when he showed me the result. The two sides were uneven and there was less hair on the right side of the top of my head, and I had the weirdest bangs. I was so confused and asked him if he indeed was done and if this was a hairstyle. Apparently that was what he thought. Then he called Kodi and Kodi did his best to make it into a decent and even haircut without removing more hair (I think he did a great job) but the damage was done. I was so shocked by the result I couldn't hold my tears. The right side of my hair where extra hair was removed still looks horrible, I think I will wear a cap to hide it for the next few weeks, and my hair has gotten extremely short. One good thing is they didn't charge me and gave me a free pass (I don't know if I will use it in a near future though). Takeaway: Choose your...
Read moreAt the Drexel location: Thea was a doll the moment I walked through the door. My check-in was for 7:00 p.m. and I got there nearly an hour early. With only one person in the chair and no one waiting, she had me in and out in half an hour.
My buzz-turned-pixie cut was growing out in all the wrong ways: wide on the sides, long at the nape, and top curling awkwardly with the summer heat. I told her I need it cleaned up, maybe faded at the bottom and scissored on top. She asked a couple more questions, reassured me that she got me, and then got to work. She only stopped halfway through to show me the fade before moving onto the scissors.
Literally, the only negative part of my experience was the heat outside and the air conditioner not working inside; nobody's fault. With it being so muggy, Thea did everything she could to make sure I didn't leave with hair clippings on me, but we acknowledged going into it that that would be a losing battle.
I really loved how Thea keeps the little star pins she gets at her station to show off how many 5 star reviews she gets. From my experience today, they're well earned, and as a customer it made me feel comfortable seeing that confidence and evidence of being skilled at what...
