The food varies between great and okay. But it's the staff service, more specifically a woman named Amy, that has me giving a 2 star for service/experience. I've never done take out, I order primarily through Grubhub. I mostly have the same delivery driver who is always pleasant with prompt service. On Friday, I ordered two entrees - cajun dry wings with fried rice and black pepper chicken with white rice. I had the latter during lunch and when I started preparing/reheating 1st for dinner I noticed there was barely any cajun seasoning on the wings. I called the restaurant and Amy answered. She first diminished what I was saying by advising that putting too much seasoning would have made it salty. Mind you, this isn't first time I've had the cajun wings and I know hardly any when I see it - it's normally well seasoned and noticeable so to the naked eye. She then told me I could save entree for next time I ordered and exchange. I told her I wanted and was eating now because I'd ordered early for dinner. She then said she could have redelivered but when I said okay, she faltered a bit and said she had to locate the driver. She then offered a 3.25 credit via Grubhub but was quick to mention she wasn't sure if I'd get/Grubhub would accommodate because I had "tried this before" in past and said I didn't get food. When I brought up that actually I was given wrong food the time she was mentioning (for which Grubhub had given me a credit because of their 100% gurarantee; but she had the correct item delivered and I called Grubhub to have them reimburse restaurant after she called and yelled they weren't paid) Amy stated that wasn't the case. Realizing this was 2nd experience with the rude service, I simply told her don't worry about the credit and kept my damn near unseasoned wings - I literally took a paper towel and barely saw any seasoning on the white background. It's like they sprinkled a few crystals on top of platter and that's it. If I am in a crunch, I may order again from Jin Jin, but I highly doubt it, as I am bent on locating another Chinese/Asian fusion delivery restaurant nearby with good food and better service. I don't make it a habit of spending dollars where I'm not respected or am expected to accept any...
Read moreThe food is good. They use fillers & cheap veggies. But that's made up in by how good it tasted. I've ordered a beef dish twice from here. The meat was so tender, I could pull it apart into smaller pieces with my fork or fingers. My kids got swt & sour & had to go w/ chicken b/c they don't make it in pork (it's a first for us, not having swt & sr pork). They said it was good but nothing special. The egg rolls were very good & soft. The prices were about what ud expect. I ordered late Saturday & expected a long wait. But was surprised when after 25 minutes it had arrived. HERE'S WHY 3 STARS INSTEAD OF THE 4 I WANT TO GIVE THEM...... MY TOTAL WAS $61. I GAVE HIM $80 & SAID KEEP $5 FOR YOURSELF. SO I SHOULD HAVE GOT $14 BACK. BUT HE HANDED MY SON $5 & WALKED OFF. I CALLED HIM BACK TO TELL HIM HE MUST HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD, I TRIED TO EXPLAIN & APOLOGIZE THAT I COULDN'T GIVE HIM THE TIP HE TOOK. BUT HE MUSTN'T HAVE HEARD ME. AS HE TOOK THE 5 & HANDED MY SON A $10 & WALKED AWAY STILL OWING ME 4 MORE. My father was a delivery driver & he said that they get told to take the tip out of the money all the time. From now on I'll have to change from that, to paying first & then handing a tip over. I hate to complain; But, I was giving him the best tip I could afford. Anyway, in spite of that, I'd still recommend them. Especially because wvery dish we (family of 4) had was tender, flavorfull & worth the price. With a quick...
Read moreMy family and friends have been very disappointed with Jin Jin's food quality. They NEVER (and I mean NEVER) change the cooking oil, so all of their fried/grilled food tastes like burnt, expired grease. Yuck! Absolutely none of their food is fresh; everything comes out of a freezer or can. And their ingredients are usually the lowest grade imaginable. You are basically paying $40 for old, reheated leftovers cooked in stale oil. You might as well buy better tasting frozen dinners for $3 at any local supermarket. The staff is rude, impatient, and demanding. Their service is slower than a dead snail. We have been to several excellent Chinese restaurants in Philly, but this ain't one of them. Maybe Jin Jin should change their cooks and stop being so cheap with their ingredients and oil changes? For QUALITY Chinese fare, it is definitely worth the drive to Kin Wha (about two miles north on Bustleton Avenue) or Chinatown (about 30 minutes away in Center City). Those joints are seriously awesome!!! By the way, I am a real consumer, as proven by my 500 review, 10-year...
