A bit expensive but great food.
Update 6/26/22 I am over than 5 years customer of Judah Mediternean Grille!
After giving this place 5-stars review, I decided to edit it to 1-star after being treated like a dog. I came one again to eat here after driving 1 hour and a half to eat lunch. I ordered Shawarma in Lafa, the restaurant was completely empty beside 1 occupied table of 3 people. Not a busy day or time, at all.
There were 2 nasty girls over the counter which forbid me to sit earthing my Lafa. "WE DON'T SERVE LAFA PN THE TABLE", the short fatty girl said. "But the restaurant is empty and it's too hot outside, can I sit quickly to eat my sandwich", I replied almost begin them for permission to sit. The girl said again very nasty and rude, almost yelling at me: "WE DON'T SERVE LAFA ON THE TABLE, PLEASE LEAVE AND HAVE A NICE DAY". She was badly sarcastic, mean like a witch and gave me a nasty look with evil eyes. I took my sandwich and left to eat outside in the hottest day of the week. If this is the way you treat returned long time customer, I might not comeback again. There are so many other Israeli/Mediternean restaurants all over Philly, so I better try them giving a business to someone who appreciate my money and especially me, as a customer. Ma'am, if you have a bad day, you better...
Read moreI was a member of a suburban Philly synagogue group of 11 (foodies) that had brunch, yesterday, at Judah Mediterranean Grill. We've all been to Israel, & regularly dine at our favorite local Israeli & other Middle Eastern restaurants. While some in our group had previously dined at JMG, most of us were first timers. WOW, were we happy to have discovered this family-owned oasis tucked into a shopping center in NE Philly! It looked & felt like, & had the authentic aromas & palate-pleasers, reminiscent of cafes we've enjoyed in Jerusalem & Tel Aviv. The staff was friendly & attentive; portions were large & attractive; & prices were easy on the wallet. We shared a variety of luscious appetizers & entrees, family style, providing an amazing array of delectable tastes & aromas. My favorite, tender & savory falafels, tucked into warm, substantial pitas, with delicious babaganoush, purple cabbage, hummus & tahini, were the best I've had in years. Moroccan carrots, Moroccan eggplant & Mediterranean beets rounded out the fresh & scrumptious sides. Lamb kufta kabobs & Chicken scampi were the meat courses selected, & were tasty, tender & delectable. My wife & I are already planning our next date at JMG, & bringing...
Read moreMy family has been coming here for a few years now as it is one of the only kosher restaurants in the area. I would have given this place 5 stars before today, but it seems the prices have increased across the board and the quality has gone down. Main courses used to be close to $18 save a couple more expensive options. Everything was $22 at the lowest, the most expensive now being over $40. Not only that, but the stop serving pitas and lafa dishes, which are significantly cheaper, after 3 pm but only on Sunday. And this is seemingly for no reason besides to make money as they were able to serve all the portions that come as part of a lafa but for close to double the price of what it would have been by ordering it off the main courses part of the menu. The only reason they stop serving them is to force customers to pay for the more expensive dishes.
If the atmosphere or the food was spectacular enough, the price wouldn't be an issue, but it simply isn't. It feels like they're taking advantage of an unfilled niche market of those who want or need...
