for the safety of every temple student who wants to come here, DO NOT. last week, the dj stopped my friend of color from singing the “n” during karaoke night and kicked her off the stage saying “i don’t care if you’re purple”. this man is an old, white dj with absolutely no respect to people of color and the world we live in. we were NOT given any policy information BEFOREHAND that the songs people sing have to be the “clean version”. a college campus, in 2022, with students of all color and KNOWN FOR DIVERSITY, cannot express themselves in a song. my white roommate and i requested a different song, justin bieber “baby”, made by a white fourteen year old with no inappropriate language. the dj came up to my friend group and told my white roommate and i that we could sing the new song we requested, but my friend who was black, could not. this to me just screams discrimination. not only this, but after everyone in the bar saw the situation and my friend crying, they told the dj he was wrong, and to let her sing again. everyone was on HER SIDE. but apparently the owner of maxis was on the djs side and continued to project that “rules are rules” — something we weren’t given. we decided to leave and not continue to support the bar, and while my friends argued with the dj, he kept defending “his rights” i decided to throw my EMPTY drink, including three ice cubes. we vowed to come back only on non-karaoke nights. thursday comes around, and we go back, but i am “banned” because my three ice cubes “ruined” the djs karaoke set. a jbl, which i have on recording, is waterproof? the owner, who should have been keeping an eye on the entire bar thursday night, was too busy buying cigarettes when i wanted to talk to him about the situation. when he was done making his purchase, my black friend and i talked to him about the disrespect, inconsideration, and unfairness to the entire situation. i am completely understandable that throwing a cup is a disgrace and i apologized. but to label a “drink” — you mean “a plastic cup with three singular ice cubes?”. trust me, when i buy a drink, i’m gonna finish it, especially when maxis charges the price they do for a tito’s lemonade. the owner, brian, used recordings from karaoke night to put down in the system when my id scanned as “banned for throwing a drink at the dj”. complete utter disgust. the bouncers at maxis came to apologize since they claimed the dj is disrespectful and he should be fired. it’s honestly a joke… i hope that maxis not only finds a new dj who is respectful of people or color, knows how to inform the bar of rules, but also creates a workplace where bouncers don’t feel uncomfortable around the people brought within the environment. a month ban will never ever replace the amount of revulsion i have...

This was my first time ordering at this establishment. I ordered over the phone and Emily or the girl with the twists answered the phone and were VERY rude. I still proceeded to order and when I got there and paid with cash, they told me they had no change and took almost an extra dollar from me. When I got home, my order was wrong and when I called, I still got an attitude from once again either Emily or the girl with twists. I walked in the pouring rain to return the wrong food and they did not care. When I asked them to remake the food and issue me a refund for the inconvenience they said no and just told me they would remake the food. The two men in the back proceeded to talk trash about me while making the food and did not wear a mask either. My first time here was TERRIBLE and I will never order from this...

Me and my friend today went to get maxis, and it was our first time. I got a bacon Mac and cheese and a Alfredo. I’ll start with the good, there’s a nice variety of options that I can appreciate, their atmosphere is nice for it is and the service has nothing I can complain about. In regards to food, the Mac and cheese was yum and would recommend it. HOWEVER, The Alfredo we got was not only extremely bland and flavorless, but there was something off to it that honestly made it nauseating. Me and my friend both tried it and was unable to finish it. Later that day we both received stomach problems and that Alfredo was the only thing we had today.
