I went to eat here on Sunday night at 7:30pm with 3 friends. It was interesting and slightly comical. I could only make a reservation for outdoor seating on OpenTable, which made me assume the restaurant was going to be packed. That was not the case. We walked in and the dining room was empty; there were about 3-4 other tables in a very large establishment. Due to the lack of patrons, they asked for our preference on indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outdoor and made our way to the back of the restaurant. The aesthetics outside were far from welcoming. It was incredibly dark and as the water glasses had been sitting outside on each of the tables for a while, they were all dirty. They brought us new glasses, but one of my friends had to get a new glass 4 times due to the servers bringing a dirty or smudged one each time.
Now to the dining experience. First, we were served the bread and salad. There was nothing special about either. The bread was not warm and the butter was cold. This restaurant needs to work on their coursing. We were served the bread and salad and not 5-7 minutes later, they brought our main courses. We felt rushed and didn’t have enough space on the table for all 4 of us to have bread plates, salad plates and our entrees.
The steak and frites were okay. The food was not very hot, but the flavor was good and I was full by the end. One of us ordered the mushrooms, which were also not very special. We were shocked to find when the bill came that the mushrooms were only $1 cheaper than the steak.
The overall service was lacking, but we could tell our waiter was new. We had to ask for water multiple times. When serving people on the inside of the table, the waiters would reach over the guests on the outside instead of walking around. We also felt we were being checked in on too frequently, but then not at all at the end. We were going to order dessert and ended up waiting so long, we decided not to.
The icing on the cake of this experience is that when we left, we saw the bread being stored only a few inches away from a trash can. I would skip this...
Read moreWent in with low expectations just based on what was mentioned in reviews and on blogs. Came in for dinner on a weekday to solo dine. Place was practically empty.
Food: -Fixed menu which makes life somewhat easy. -Bread was nothing special but came out warmed alongside cold butter which I thought was interesting. -The salad was semi wilted. Could have saved the stomach space but needed some veggies. -The steak is pretty average. I ordered medium rare which was cooked well by the kitchen. It’s a thinner cut but was not in any way chewy like others have mentioned which was a relief. -The sauce is pretty one dimensional. Just a standard pan sauce with primary notes of butter and fond. Lacking peppercorn flavor that I want in a steak frites. -Frites were the star of the show in my opinion. Shoe string style but cooked perfectly. Saved the bite when combined with the sauce and steak. -They play into the “surprise” which is another portion of steak frites which I do appreciate.
Drinks: Lavender 75 mocktail was recommended by my server. Honestly great recommendation as I asked for something not too sweet. Tasted like a floral carbonated lemonade.
Service: -A little inconsistent as it got busier but Brendan was the man. Dude just seems happy and was willing to chat it up and offer good advice on any questions I had. Remembered a lot of my special requests even as he got more tables throughout the night as well so big shoutout to him.
Ambiance Odd. It’s a steakhouse that wants to be casual cool. Variety of throwbacks on the speaker, louder than I’d prefer. -Bathroom is very clean but the music is a loop of Pepe Le Pew lol.
It’s a chain so it’s hard to be critical despite seeing some insanely exaggerated videos online making it seem like it’s the best steak frites money can buy. I mean they deliver on what they offer as a product but do I think it’s a must go-out of this world food experience? No. Value to quality I think it’s actually...
Read moreThis place has a set menu of Steak Frites and is heavily influenced by the French style.
The experience wasn't as great, mainly due to service and the timing of the food.
We were served the salad first (not the bread and butter). It was soggy as I believe it left out for sometime.
After a good amount of wait, the bread and butter was served (3 pieces between two people). The bread was good, crispy outside and soft inside, but the butter was very hard to spread on the bread.
Our drinks still hasn't come and I had to remind our server to look into it to.
After that the steak too took a long time to come, this was espicillay disappointing to me as I was pretty hungry and the time between meals were too long, they were just wetting my appetite and the wait was a killer. The steak, fries and the sauce were pretty good. I had medium rare which was pretty well done (pun intended). They do bring a second serving of the steak and fries which is a pleasant surprise, but unlike the first time , they just brought it for us together in a large tray and served us. It was tough and chewy the second time. I don't know why they can't just serve a bigger portion the first time.
The couple next to us were having their steak when we got our salad, and they only got the second serving after we were finished. They waited more than 30 min for the second serving.
We didn't wait for the desert as we were afraid it would take a long time.
Also they let my glass go empty of water twice (only refilled once and that too after a long time).
There are some pros to this place,as the table cloth was made of paper and they provided crayons to have some fun and the ambience was also good.
I think the issue all boils down to less staff and an issue with proper management and timing. Hopefully they can make...
