Weâve been waiting for Pearlâs to open and I must say itâs a welcome addition to Fishtownâs food and bar scene. We have visited a couple of times and the vibe / music has been fantastic. The space is beautiful and they always plays the best music balancing the old schools tunes bringing you back as well as the newer jams. The cocktails have been impressive both times. We appreciate a well made cocktail youâd be willing to walk and pay for. On our last visit, we finally got to try the food. Iâve been waiting to try the mussels and they didnât disappoint. Flavorful white wine curry broth accompanied with freshly toasted baguettes. The truffle burger may be the best burger in fishtown and we leveraged the fries to scoop up the rest of the curry broth. Ask for a spoon to enjoy all of it and while itâs hot! Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to recover my purse I left on the chair when I discovered it was missing the next day. The owner Doug promptly responded to my frantic messages and had it arranged with his crew for me to pick it up. Iâve been in Fishtown for over 15 years and sadly it has had a bad rep when it comes to safety so feeling like you donât have to look over your shoulder or worry about your belongings at a bar is short of a miracle. Thank you Doug and all of your staff for paving the way to rebrand our neighborhood and make it a safer place. The staff and the bartenders are super friendly and everyone provides outstanding service. Pearlâs is definitely my new favorite Fishtown spot for great vibes, a perfect nightcap and good food. Canât wait for my next visit and to try more of what the menu has to offer. Keep up...
Read moreI intend to come back in a few months and see if my issues with the food are tied to the growing pains of Pearl's being a new restaurant. My experience, however, is that the food is made too sweet and absolutely not worth the price.
We had the scallop crudo, buffalo chicken pasty, and eggplant cutlet sandwich. The only thing I could taste in the crudo was coconut and sweet citrus which completely overpowered the flavor of the scallop so it felt more like eating a oddly-textured dessert than any kind of seafood. The buffalo chicken pasty was really nice, but came with a blue cheese dipping sauce that had something sweet added to it and made it inedible to us. Finally, the only thing I could taste in my eggplant cutlet sandwich was mayo. The mayo was supposedly garlic aioli and there was some amount of tapenade on the sandwich, but the mayo was so overpowering and did not deliver on any of the other flavors or tastes that should have been present.
My experience may be due to Pearl's being new or maybe leaning into sweet is the culinary vision they're aiming for and Pearl's just isn't for me. Either way, with these prices (bill for two people came out to ~$92 before tip), I knew I wanted to leave a review.
I hope to try again sometime and revise my review.
Notes on the other scores. Service was great. I could appreciate what they were doing while dealing with new bar/restaurant rush. We were not waiting long for food or drinks. Atmosphere was average. They do the thing where the music is too loud to even hear the person next to you so then everyone else talks very loudly, but everywhere does that so I don't fault...
Read moreâď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Pearlâs on the Corner is one of those rare gems that makes you fall in love with Philly all over again. Their brunch is out of this world â the avocado toast is easily the best Iâve ever had, layered with flavor and presented so beautifully. And when it comes to dinner, the menu is just as impressive â thoughtful, creative, and downright delicious. Every dish feels like a treat, crafted with love and care.
But what really makes Pearlâs shine is the team. Morgan, Brynn, and Ariana are absolutely incredible â warm, attentive, and always going above and beyond to make every visit special. They make you feel like family the second you walk in the door, and their energy sets the tone for the entire experience. Itâs that genuine hospitality that keeps you coming back, not just for the food but for the people.
As a small business owner myself, I know firsthand how much heart and hard work it takes to build something this special. Pearlâs on the Corner is a perfect example of why supporting local matters â because when you do, youâre not just enjoying a meal, youâre fueling someoneâs dream and being part of a community.
If you havenât been yet, make it your next stop. Pearlâs is everything you want in a neighborhood spot...
