1& Done ✔️ (I’ve seen them all over social media sites (NEVER SEEN A MENU).) Seen some good reviews also, however those had to be friends or staff leaving reviews because baby when I say I was Highly upset and so hungry, like I literally only had one meal so I can pig out because I’ve been craving African dishes!!! First off they advertise they have alcoholic beverages (plus my friend came once before and actually had drinks), she asked the bartender about the drink specials that was advertised in the menu in front of us and she stated, “we don’t have any alcohol today I’m sorry. Would you like a mock tail?” (All of the bottles of alcohol are right behind clear as day lol) She should’ve said we no longer sale, or my boss isn’t allowing it for the week/month idk but something other than they don’t have it when we’re sitting at the Bar looking at the full -semi full bottles. Now let’s get to the most important part, THE FOOD! The prices! The portions!!! Friend got the jollof rice she wasn’t pleased with she said it taste like box rice of roni and it wasn’t authentic. She’s actually been here before and had the rice and she loved it then when she also had the drinks lol. I wasn’t too pleased with the prices so I ordered my things to go. My son wanted cassava leaf, which was $28 and I got the egusi soup for $22. Neither one of the dishes included meat or rice. That was an additional $12-$15 each meat, which was crazy to me because anytime I go over to Philadelphia. For African food I’m actually paying about 12 to 15 maybe even $20 for a platter with MEATS already included. So I decided to go ahead and place my order with the soups w/o the meat. My friend rice came out ASAP and my to go food came out as she was finishing hers. Now my bag seemed kind of heavy so I’m like OK. I like this. As the bartender was preparing my bill, it gave me time to check out the products in the bag lol I took out the pounded yam, which were both very heavy and hot then I get down to the first platter which would be my son‘s $28 platter. The bowl was a little smaller than the balls that you would get from a Chinese store with takeout with the lid. They were so lightweight. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Then I took out my $22 soup and just laughed. They weren’t even filled halfway for the price is insane!!! The soup was under a half if that makes any sense my son‘s $28 soup looked like all palm butter, no cassava. When I looked at it, the bartender looked at me. I asked her what is this? Where is the rest of the soup I get that I didn’t get any meat But where’s the actual soup for $22 and for $28. (The pounded yams were additional $) she looked at me like girl I know let me go get the manager. The manager comes out ask what’s the problem? I showed her the bowls that weren’t even halfway full maybe like 25% maybe 15% filled. I told her I eat this food often and whenever I come over to Philadelphia and I go to a African restaurant I’m getting my platters for 22 maybe 25 bucks the most and it’s including meats not just one but multiple meats and it’s also including rice. The pound of yam is something extra on the side that I would pay for but all the dishes include rice, white rice. She goes to look at me and say have you ever seen cassava leaf after I just TOLD her I come over OFTEN to go to the African restaurants to get these dishes! She then offered me meat for the dishes, but I denied it because I wasn’t into the whole approach her whole demeanor and once she came over the rest of the staff who my friend and I thought were sitting customers behind the bar, they were all up and looking over and seeing what was the fuss about Very unprofessional. I told her that I just didn’t want the soups. It wasn’t a problem. My friend paid I walked out and she said everyone started talking about me lol very professional ladies and gents. You’re paying for the aesthetics of the place because it’s cute and photo worthy...
Read moreDATE NIGHT WAS RUINED THANKS BUT NO THANKS. Date night with the hubby we wanted to try someplace new. We seen this spot on TikTok they hyped it up is what I can say in my experience. We drove almost an hour got there at about 4:30pm we waited for them to open at 5pm. No problem. 5pm they open right on time. Loved. We did not have a reservation and they had a “party reservation”so we had to sit at the bar cool. Oh and the party was less then 10 people so you’ll know the spot is not as big as it look’s. We go to the meet our server very nice girl she tells me where the restroom is. As I go into the bathroom I always expect, there was no toilet paper only bar napkins in replace of a roll of the toilet paper. I wanted to go then but my husband was starved and I’m a team player. My husband order us bottled water I don’t drink anyone’s city punch (water). We ordered honey garlic wings for our appetizer. They was fried good the taste was more like honey wings no garlic. I finished my wings went to order a drink remember I’m at the bar. The waitress say oh we are not serving alcohol at the moment only BYOB. The F bomb I’m pissed cause the hostess could have gave us that knowledge at the door. We ordering our dinner my husband wanted cassava leaf, now on the menu it states with assorted meats/proteins. The waiter ask what kind of meat? Huh, there is no meats in your Cassava. It’s an additional charge. We passed on that and got Rasta pasta his with oxtails and mine with salmon. My salmon was good not over cooked as some restaurants do. His oxtails he said was good. Rasta pasta was flavorful with the kick of spice. It was good. My neighbor next to me asked what did you get I told her and I asked her what did you get she said same but with the jerk chicken. I said well is ok cause you picking at it she said no the chicken taste old. (Old chicken taste soar like soar milk)Her experience not mine. She asked for her bill and the manager. We ask for our bill cause once our neighbor couple got there’s they started going off even more. Now as you can see we was charged gratuity 17% and convenience fee 5% as so she. Neighbor asked every waitress while waiting on the manager still what was the convenience fee no one knew what it was for. We knew the break down everything is charge separately. We did not know 2 bottles of water was going to be $14. Nor did we think we had to pay for there convenience. When I was the one being inconvenienced from the time I got there a bar with no liquor. Yes I’m still pissed cause I could have had a better experience if I had known. Make it my choice. We pay no problem no need to complain cause the manager never came out for them. We didn’t hit the car before me and my husband stomachs was in knots with a long way back home. DATE NIGHT WAS RUINED THANKS BUT NO THANKS....
Read moreDO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE! My friend and I drove about an hour to come check this spot out after seeing a few viral videos about it. Although the Rasta Pasta was delicious, I didn’t even get to try it until 3 HOURS AFTER our reservation time. We were told to go wait outside until a table was ready. The hostess explained that people were “staying longer than they expected” (that was the first red flag). About a half hour later we finally got seated at a table right next to the kitchen door. It was constantly flying open with people frantically running into each other on either side of the door. I was nearly elbowed in the face on a few different occasions. We waited for our drinks for over an hour until my friend finally went down to the bar to retrieve them. They hadn’t even been ordered yet smh. The drink was terrible so I thought I might have accidentally ordered the wrong thing. I asked the waitress, and she agreed it was the wrong drink and went to get me another one (she blamed it on my friend for going to get them lol). 30 minutes later she came back with the SAME EXACT DRINK. If she told me that it was the correct drink, I would have just ordered a different one since I didn’t like the taste. After all that nonsense, the food finally came out another 30-45 minutes later. But of course, both of our orders were incorrect. I asked for salmon with my pasta and got shrimp, and my friend didn’t get the rice she ordered with her fish. Thank goodness for the head chef!!! She ran the plates out and when I told her what was wrong she was quick to fix it. That was the only employee that I encountered that was genuinely helpful, and her food is DELICIOUS! So let’s skip to the bill. We were offered “still or sparking water” when we were first seated, those were the ONLY options that were offered. We were then charged $15 for that damn water and they refused to take it off the bill because we drank it. OF COURSE WE DRANK IT WE SAT WITHOUT FOOD OR DRINKS FOR TWO HOURS!! Our server never gave us an option for free water. That’s usually something that is automatic. We also got some random $12 charge for some sauce that we NEVER ordered. And the 15% gratuity was definitely a reach. Our server barely deserved 5% and I was a waitress for YEARS so I’m not even tryna hear any excuses. Still not sure what the “service charge” was for, but whatever. These people are crooks! I hope the head chef gets up outta there because there’s no way this place will last long! Terrible service. Unethical practices. Hidden charges EVERYWHERE. I will NEVER be back, and I advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of this establishment. If anything,...
