If you have kinky hair and or darker skin this is NOT the place for you to receive services.
I dislike using the race card as some would say however itās not rocket science that people with higher content of melanin in their skin get discriminated against.
Letās start with the Phone call. Before I went into this business I called and spoke to someone on the phone and they gave me a price for a pedicure however when The nail tech was done the services I was told another price that doubled from the original. Not to mention The woman that did my manicure took no pride in her work whatsoever. It was a rush job And the polish was very sloppy.I had to keep asking her to fix my nail polish and she kept getting an attitude when I told her that it was not done correctly.Another woman did my pedicure and it was just okay. I am not raving about it...
When I was finished I had to sit Under the dryer to let my nails and feet dry however I kept getting rushed to pay the payment after everyone in the salon knew that I did not get a gel manicure. I guess they thought I was not going to make the payment. Not to mention they kept a rotation around me; All of them one by one kept hovering over me to watch me to make sure I was going to pay for my service. I have no clue what would give them the impression that I would not pay. Mind you I was the only in there Being treated this way and guess what my skin color was...
Anyway...
The woman were very rude to me when I wanted to discuss the payment. Yet I paid anyway and still tipped my pedi tech.
Upon my exit I asked if I could buy a pair of slippers. The lady told me that she did not have any slippers in stock however when I first arrived there, before I even took my boots off I asked the lady did she have slippers and she said yes they have them available for purchase once the pedicure is finished. As I was leaving I asked the woman if I could buy a pair of slippers and then she told me no she did not have any. I then said āMiss, you just told me you had slippers for sale and now youāre saying you donāt have any?ā she then says āwell I do but I donāt know what size you wear.ā so Then i said you know what I donāt even want to buy them from here and I left.
I donāt like using the Race card because the sad reality of it is that I am used to it and I am numb to this type of treatment. Itās not cool but when you mention it everyone thinks āitās all in your head.ā
To my sisters please never ever go to this place And to anyone that believes that fair is fair and people should not be judged off of their skin color should not support this business either. All I can say is that I will never go there again. Two...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Decided to give this spot a try, but the end product was lacking quality. The polish on my toes were not shiny and looks like the employee's apron touched the wet polish, so the surface is textured and not smooth and shiny. Didn't notice it until I got home sadly. I grow out my nails naturally, so my nails are thin without the polish. The employee was very heavy handed, and they use the drill to remove the gel polish. She used the drill at a certain spot more than once on my naked nail, and i got drill burn. She they asked me if that hurt, I said yes. And she put the drill on her hand, and said "that doesn't hurt." I thought that was a bit weird and a nail tech should know it was drill burn... plus it was on my nail bed and she put it on her skin. Anyway... she asked me if I had 3 coats when i had my last manicure... i told her i didn't know since its been awhile since i got my nails done, and she thought it was funny that i didn't know. The end result of my manicure was: polish on my skin, missing polish on some areas of my nail bed, gel polish globs under my nails, nail shaped in random shapes... seems like a mixture of almond and square. Overall not a great job and honestly a bit sloppy and over priced based on quality. It was a plus that they took tips by credit card, since a lot of nail salons only do cash tips. But that seems to be the only real highlight...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen coming here over a few months since weāve relocated to South Philly and sadly Iāve noticed a decline in the quality of service from paint streaks, uneven and oddly shaped nail filing, forgetting to apply lotion and the assembly line rush that leaves little time to warm seat particularly the male technician whom Iāll never allow to touch my nails again. Too bad the technicians do not wear name tags and vary from day to day or Iād recommend the 1 technician who does a half decent job that may or may or not include a greeting or dialogue exchange beyond āchoose your color.ā
2 stars for location but Iāll venture further for a quality salon that has a modicum of professionalism, customer service and consistent service that South Street...
