I placed an order with Flash Foods at the Giant located at 510 Broad St. 10/26/2024. I was working and did not know that the Market closed at 10:00pm. I arrived to the market at 10:03pm. An employee was leaving and slightly closed the door. I began to explain that I had to pick up my order. She said that she would get someone. The young woman employee approached the door very dismissively. Stating " We are closed, cancel with the app or come back another day. I explained that I could not come back because I was at work and asked if she could show me where to cancel the order because it would not give me the option. She sated aggressively No, I DONT KNOW HOW O DO THAT! I then asked to speak to her manager. After a while of waiting, and not knowing what was said, the assistant manager Alex and the lady approached. He began yelling at me very aggressively at me until I told him not to talk to me this way. I was mortified and nervous because I have always had a great experience in Giant whenever I worked at the hospital. I explained that I needed support, but he also could not find it and then said, come back tomorrow. I reiterated that I could not. He then asked if the money was taken out of my account, which I said yes after checking. He did not help me, and stated dismissively, if it is not there call or come back and closed the door and he and the assistant rushed off. They are horrible employees, and I will write a review about Alex's aggressive, demining, and dismissive behavior, and send a Flash email to the associates at My hospital about...
Read moreJust terrible. I sincerely have no idea how other reviewers would describe this location as well-stocked; this is my neighborhood store and I can assure you that bare shelves are not a rare sight at this Giant. Today really blew my mind, however. I went in this afternoon and almost half of the produce shelves were completely barren. The ones that weren't empty frequently held items that should have been disposed of days ago (see my pictures). I came across numerous wilted, half-rotted, or completely moldy items. As a former produce clerk myself, it's hard to imagine how management would find this acceptable. It does not instill confidence in how fresh food is handled in other parts of the store like the meat department or the deli.
Aside from the state of the groceries, the shopping experience is pretty unpleasant. I got panhandled TWICE in the same shopping trip by the same guy inside the store. They don't seem to have any smaller carts or hand-baskets, so you're stuck navigating a crowded store full of huge carts and inventory robots. During the busiest times of the day, it's impossible to move around the front of the store because there's a huge backup and only ever about 2 of the 6 non-self-check registers open. There is a consistent pile of trash outside the store because people hang out in the alcove by the subway station all day and there's no garbage can by the entrance. This might be the worst managed Giant in Philly. It's worth going a little further to one of the other grocery stores in the area if that's...
Read moreMy recent experiences as a student and customer at Giant, 510 N Broad Street, have left me disheartened and disillusioned by the discriminatory practices observed at the store entrance.
It is distressing to note that students are often made to wait outside the store entrance until other students exit, implying a baseless assumption of wrongdoing. This practice not only undermines the dignity of students but also perpetuates a culture of mistrust and discrimination.
Furthermore, witnessing fellow students being unfairly accused of theft upon exiting the premises adds to the distress. The disrespectful behavior of the security personnel, particularly a lady, exacerbates the negative atmosphere and tarnishes the reputation of the store.
As a loyal customer, I believe that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves to be treated with respect and fairness. Discriminatory practices have no place in a reputable establishment like Giant.
I urge the management to reconsider their entrance policy and address the disrespectful treatment of students by the security personnel. Failure to rectify these issues not only damages the reputation of the store but also alienates loyal customers.
In conclusion, I am deeply disheartened by the discriminatory practices observed at Giant, 510 N Broad Street, and sincerely hope to see meaningful changes in the treatment of all customers in the...
