Came on Thanksgiving night, and as soon as we walked in the host was super sweet and very helpful as it was only her 2nd day working there. We got sat at a table by the window, and waited about 10-15 min for a server. Once Sharee (not sure if that’s how it’s spelled) arrived to our table with no introduction, no questions about us wanting drinks, not even asking us how our night is decides to start with “are y’all ready to order?”… Now, from the minute I walked in she was marching around the restaurant with a balled up face and an attitude and her being our server further proved my point. I gave her our drink order, and our starter order (cornbread) she looks at me and asks, “um.. is that it?” With such a negative demeanor. We hadn’t even gotten a chance to review the prefixed menu. Assuming she felt the vibe of us noticing her disgusting attitude, 2 minutes later our server was changed to Sebastian. Sebastian was such an awesome server/bartender, made us feel very welcomed, and rectified our negative experience. I work in the service industry, and have worked many holidays taking tables and I understand it can be frustrating when all you want to do is be home with your family; but there is no reason to interact with your tables how sharee was. It bothered my wife and I so much, we almost got up and left. I’m giving this place 3 stars because of the service in the beginning but besides that the hostess, manager, Sebastian, and the food was a 10/10.

I recently tried brunch at Square 1682, and it was a solid experience! Their brunch hours are from 8 AM to 2 PM on weekends. If you arrive early enough, parking is not too much of a hassle, although it does come with a cost. The restaurant itself is clean, and the staff is super friendly. For coffee lovers, they do offer regular coffee, but if you're into flavored coffee, you won’t find that here. Now, let's talk about the food. The shrimp and grits were definitely a highlight — rich, creamy cheese sauce and a generous portion of shrimp. The portion size is hefty enough that you could probably get away with just that, as it’s very filling. If you’re still hungry after, go ahead and order something else. I saw somewhere that their buttermilk pancakes were rated among the top 7 in Philly, but I wasn’t impressed. They were on the dry side — not terrible, but there are definitely better pancakes out there. As for the pricing, it was pretty reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Two orders of shrimp and grits and an order of pancakes came to $60, which didn’t break the bank. Overall, I’d definitely recommend the shrimp and grits and would return to try more from their brunch menu!

The place is clean and I like the ambiance. The bathroom is on the 2nd floor but it was clean and had nice body size mirrors which is great for selfies. I ordered a gingerale and I’m assuming it came from a juice gun/machine because it was kind of flat. There’s a happy hour menu that ends at 7. From the happy hour menu, I ordered the duck wings and calamari. Both were tasty. There was a special for the surf and turf for $30 which was my entree. The lobster was a little mushy. The steak was tasty. They didn’t have steak sauce but it did come with a side sauce that was a good substitute. I also substituted my fries for whipped potatoes which was good. I also ordered a side of the general tso broccoli which was breaded and tossed in the general tso sauce. It did exceed my expectation and was breaded perfectly. I ordered the peach cobbler for dessert. It was basically peach filling with oatmeal toasted on top. I was highly disappointed that it was called a “cobbler”. The vanilla ice cream that came with it was good. The service was excellent! Waitress checked on us often and was quick to refill our drinks

Had a breakfast here (as Kimpton guests), which was the worst hotel breakfast we've experienced ever. As we walked in no any kind of greetings or smile, just a sit where you want gesture.

Had: a) BEET ME (a small glass of supposedly beet, carrot, ginger and cilantro raw juice, which in reality was filled with 2 huge cylinders of ice taking the 2/3 of the space in a glass and the rest of the space was filled with UNDRINKABLE mess of awfully tasted beet and ginger juice with nowhere found carrot or cilantro flavor). And this is coming from the person who LOVES raw juices and familiar with many flavors of them. Otherwise why would I ordered this mess for the price of the $9 ?!?! for THIS??? b) Supermarket quality bagel and Croissant with the slice of Philadelphia Cream Cheese bought in some of those Warehouses (like BJ'S or Sam's, no condiments like jams or jellies coming with them) for $4 each?! c) 2 cups of not good tasting coffee (no milk until asked, no refills offered) for $4 each?!

And then comes the question from the waitress "How did you like it?" Well, she received our honest opinion about how we liked it, and after hearing it, said with of course an attitude: "If you didn't like it you don't have to pay for it", which actually was the only positive (and I would say fare) part of our experience in this place. Paying about $30 for a minimal breakfast for 2 should include much more hospitality, taste and satisfaction than was...

Disappointing Christmas Dinner Experience at Square 1682

We were in town for a couple of days over the holidays and had pre-booked Square 1682 for Christmas dinner, enticed by the promise of a festive three-course pre-fixe menu. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we hoped for.

When it came time to order, we were informed that half of the menu options were sold out — two out of the four Christmas dinner entrées and all but one dessert choice. This was shocking, considering the event was prepaid and pre-booked. While the manager did offer to refund our meals, we didn’t come for compensation — we came for a lovely Christmas dinner experience, which was completely lacking.

The food we did end up with was lackluster. Risotto as a replacement entrée for a holiday meal felt uninspired, and the quality didn’t redeem it. Even the "hot rolls" were disappointing — a quartered kaiser bun, warmed and dry.

The lack of professionalism from the staff added to the disappointment. By 9 p.m., the kitchen and wait staff were openly counting down the minutes until they could leave, creating a rushed and uninviting atmosphere. It was anything but festive and left us feeling let down on what should have been a special evening.

I cannot recommend Square 1682 based on this experience. It failed to deliver on its promises and certainly didn’t provide the warm, celebratory Christmas meal we...
