Charming nanobrewery tucked away in a neighborhood setting. I've heard good things about the beer, but this review is mainly about atmosphere, options, and experience.
I mainly come here for trivia - the usual guy Dan is fantastic; fun, engaging, dry sense of humor, wicked depressing musical taste. If it's his replacement, you're going to be there until 10 (trivia starts at 6:30), and there's usually no warning ahead of time.
The atmosphere is great, it definitely feels thought out and has a goal to be a neighborhood spot for a few beers with friends.
If you don't like beer, don't come here. Not worth your time. The non-beer selection is awful, it's usually canned cocktails (with barely any taste), if you're lucky they might have some cider or wine. They only serve pizza (made in-house at least), so if you're hungry for something else, go somewhere else.
The staff is beyond mediocre. The bartender Josh, can't handle multiple tabs, and forces you to set up a singular tab for your table. If you ask him a question, he responds like you're some sort of problem.
From what I've heard from former staff, they also treat women POORLY. A former staff member said she was allegedly fired for "pouring beer incorrectly", while her replacement was serving half-beer, half-foam. I have never seen a woman working here. Take that as you will.
I had been waiting a long time for this spot to re-open and I'm very...
Read moreTwisted Gingers has grown quite a bit since arriving a few years ago. I'm really happy they have managed to stick around. Their addition of a pizza oven was in no doubt part.
As a brewery, I'll start with their drinks. They have a decent selection of their brews on tap and pretty much anything they've ever made available in cans (for dine in or takeout). I'm honestly not in love with all their beers, but I've always been a picky beer drinker. My IPA loving beer friends rave and I do trust their judgement. They also typically have a cider available from one of a few other local breweries and have been known to have alcoholic seltzer mixed cocktails as well. When mixed with fresh fruit, these seltzers can be a real hit.
As for me, my focus on visits is food. The only thing they offer is pizza and they do it well. They have a handful of standard offerings and a monthly rotating special. On the standard list, my go-to is Friends from Brussels. Be warned, they only have one oven so wait times can get long if you arrive at peak times!
Service is friendly and all around good. Prices are slightly cheaper than main street and well in line with the quality they offer. Overall, a clear recommend...
Read moreFirst visit to Twisted Gingers and it hit the spot. It’s a low-key neighborhood brewery with a nice bar setup— and the beer’s legit. I tried a sour and a stout, and both were poured clean with good carbonation and body. Definitely not flat—just well kept and fresh off the taps.
And the pizza— Big win. They serve 14” pies alongside the beers, which of course, is the perfect combo. I got the pepperoni with Mike’s Hot Honey—dough had nice texture, toppings were balanced, and the crust was crisp without being burnt. Solid execution all around.
The staff was great—friendly, fast, and really attentive.
Just note— they close up by 9pm, and the kitchen wraps even earlier (about 45 minutes to an hour before), so don’t roll in late expecting dinner and a long hangout. Early arrival is your best bet.
They’ve got a small cocktail list too—simple options like G&Ts and mules—but beer’s definitely the main focus here.
Good energy, good beer, good pie....
